What are thoughts on using HM on friendly targets, both to preserve the spell for later use, and in the instance you need to track your party member and wanted the boost?
You don't need to "preserve" Hunter's Mark; you can move it at any point. Targeting a party member's going to backfire since you can't retarget it until they hit 0 HP.
If the target drops to 0 hit points before this spell ends, you can use a bonus action on a subsequent turn of yours to mark a new creature.
This means that you don't need to move it immediately after the target dies - any turn of yours after the target drops to zero hp is fine.
The target could drop to zero hp and then the turn where you choose to use a bonus action to move the mark could be 20 minutes later, as long as you maintained the spell.
Do I have to move the HM immediately on the next turn after an enemy hits 0 hp or can it pend after combat is ended to be reused upon reentry? Assuming the combat happens within the spell time.
