Would you allow a player with a Good Celestial Warlock to Summon Greater Celestial instead of Demon? A Felidar for example. Seems reasonable right?
Interesting, I would say yes but we need more celestials with proper CR for that to happen. Legendary action creatures are a no no to me.

Born under the watch of something from the furthest corners of the far realms.... It knows all.... it sees all... and it asks: "What is it that you want to see?"... and my answer is... ALL"
The material component would have to be different too. The blood of a humanoid that was killed within the last 24 hours screams evil to me, even if the humanoid is an evil orc or goblin.

Good point. Perhaps a lock of hair, given as a gift, from a Lawful Good person.
I have always played Clerics but want to play a Warlock and the Celestial is such a great alternate...can't wait to try. But in our campaign, my current character would have to die and I am not exactly excited about the death of "Gygax Mercerdrak" the Blue Dragonborne, Tempest Cleric.
The thing is, Summon Greater Demon has a chance for the demon to break free from your control, and start attacking whatever is nearby. It is a calculated risk. Generally speaking, a rogue Celestial isn't going to go off and attack the party if it breaks free from your control.

What about a being like "Justitia", the blind goddess of justice as inspiration? The celestial summon could simply not be able to "see" who is friend or foe and due to his "order" will smite everyone where it got summoned. It is not the decision of the being in that moment. It is the "sword" and not the hand that guides it.

Wow! If I could like a post I would. Best reply ever and the previous comment is a great and valid point but I am not going to lie, your reply is the basis for a great adventure! Thanks!
I wouldn't allow it. Outside the class there are summoning spells for celestials. Unlike the controlled celestials, the summon demon spells invokes chaos destruction and barely controlled at that. I would instead question why if you chose to pledge yourself to a celestial patron you believe they would have the ability to grant that spell, let alone choose to? It would be like a cleric of pelor with their hatred of the undead memorising and using animate dead 'because its on the cleric list' yes it is, but this is a role playing thing and the role of Pelor priests does not involve animating corpses but rather smiting them. A lot.
Warlocks don't always see eye to eye with their patrons. I think of Marvel's Ghost Rider as a great example of a Warlock with a Fiend patron where he serves his patron unwillingly and whenever he get's the chance he works to spread good instead of spreading evil the way his patron wants him to do. I can see all sorts of role playing opportunities where a non-good Warlock has a Celestial as his patron.
In addition to all that conjure celestial is a 7th level spell, and summons a CR 4 Celestial. Something tells me that a 4th level spell summoning a CR 5 celestial wouldn't be balanced, considering the above.
