Hey guys, I wanted some tips on making a dragonborn, great old one warlock. Luckily I got the following stat roll: 11, 12, 16, 14, 14 and 17. I know you'll probably say this is not the best class race combination but its ok...I wanted some advice on the following things:
- Would you make it Str based? Most hex are dex based but I think it could be fun or worth trying at least.
- What spells would you recomend?
- What pact could fit the best in this case?
-Any tip is welcome.
pd. I'm more interested about story than maxing out every aspect, but I'd rather make the best possible choices without changing my original idea... =)
With those rolls, you can be whatever race you want, whatever class you want.
With race=dragonborn as a constant:
For an optimized melee warlock, put your 17 in Charisma, your 16 in Constitution, and one of your 14s in Dexterity, and use the UA Hexblade as your patron.
For a warlock of the Great Old One, put your 17 in Charisma and enjoy having a +4 modifier in your spellcasting ability at 1st level. Get yourself some thralls.
My advice since you enjoy the story is come up with your story first and pick your patron, etc. based on your story. Then have fun!
With those rolls you definitely want your Charisma to be 17. If you’re going to play a high strength Warlock, I’d definitely go with Pact of the Blade. They’re not my ideal, I see a Warlock as a ranged attacker, not a melee attacker, but who cares what I like? Go with the mix that’s fun for you.
Do you own the Player's Handbook on DnD Beyond? It might be that you need to own it in order to access the other patrons. That or you could join someone's campaign on Beyond and have them enable sharing so you can have access to make your character sheets with all the options.

if you are going weapons, strength gives you big weapons, while dex can work in class, just spend Lv. of cleric into war or tempest for heavy.

When creating the character my only Patron option is the Fiend...is there a reason?
