I was trying to create a race that had a feature allowing it to use Dexterity instead of Strength for determining attack/damage rolls when fighting with a longsword. How would I do this?

Devious serpent folk devoid of compassion, yuan-ti manipulate other creatures by arousing their doubts, evoking their fears, and elevating and crushing their hopes. From remote temples in jungles, swamps, and deserts, the yuan-ti plot to supplant and dominate all other races and to make themselves gods.
I don't think this is something you could do in the race builder itself. You can most certainly create the trait for it and this is how I would do it:
Longsword Virtuoso - When you use a longsword, you can treat it as having the finesse quality.
*When you go into your character sheet, create a custom attack for the longsword using your Dexterity*
That would be the only way, as they currently don't let you create mundane items. If they do however allow this soon, then I would create a new weapon "Falchion" or something, make it exactly like the longsword, except give it finesse. Then you can give the race proficiency with the falchion, does that make sense?
as they currently don't let you create mundane items.
Just a note - you're welcome to create any mundane items you like with the homebrew system - the rules are that you are not allowed to PUBLISH mundane items. :)
If you want to make a Longsword with the finesse property, by all means go ahead - you can use it, as can anyone else that is in a campaign with you.

Wow! That's great to know, I never realized this was added. When was this added, and how does one go about creating a mundane item, I only see an option for a magic item?
