i agree. It's easy for new players (and DMs) to miss the fact that their armor grants them Disadvantage without looking up the rules for that equipment. It doesn't even show up in the equipment listing in the character sheet.
Maybe an icon similar to the ones used for concentration, ritual and the like spells next to the name of the armor? That'd make it super clear and at-a-glance to spot. And to take the idea a little further, this same icon could appear next to the AC at the top of the sheet as well, just to remind you of it without having to look down to the equipment section (just an additional thought).
Yes, there is an icon on the equipment section. But I would love to see it right next to Stealth on the Skills section. That way it is really clear for players.
+1 to eagle1361 -- when a player rolls a skill check, stands to reason that she'll be referencing her skills section, not the equipment section. It'd be nice if any skill advantage or disadvantage, given from a magic item, armor, what have you, would show up on the skills list itself.
I just want to point out again that if you are on mobile, there is no way to see if armor gives disadvantage on stealth, even from the equipment section. It seems like it would be very easy to just have putting on one of those armors show disadvantage in the skill section. I am baffled this has not been resolved given how common the condition of stealth disadvantage from heavy armor is.
Open character sheet > Equipment section > click on armor to open detail info > any information about stealth disadvantage is not displayed.
In desktop some armors do show disadvantage to stealth icon in Equipment section of character sheet, but Scale mail is missing the feature in desktop version of the website. All of the icons are missing in mobile version of the website.
You can click on Stealth in the proficiency panel and customise it. Put some text in the Skill Proficiency Level notes box and the proficiency circle will turn blue. That lets you know something is odd about it and might help you remember.
While you guys are at it, the other issues have existed for over 6 months, is there any chance you could prioritise them over adding new features please, because it's a good idea to finish off your existing features (especially those long-standing issues which are reported regularly) before moving on to something new!
- Equipping armor you don't meet the Str requirement for is meant to give a penalty of -10 speed. The character sheet doesn't reflect this.
- Clicking the speed icon on the character sheet doesn't give you a breakdown of factors affecting your speed, unlike how it does with armour. Not really a bug, but more of a suggestion.
- A barbarian can equip heavy armor and the sheet will still consider a Barbarian to have a speed of 40, even though the +10 speed from Fast Movement only works when the Barbarian isn't wearing heavy armor. It's still applying the bonus speed even though the criteria should be invalidated by equipping the heavy armor.
- Setting exhaustion to level 2 doesn't halve your speed on the character sheet.
- Setting exhaustion to 5 doesn't reduce your speed to 0 on the sheet. It doesn't change it whatsoever.
And another issue I noticed, though of a different nature (was reported long enough ago that I wonder why it's still not fixed): For Rangers, only the most recently selected Favored Enemy shows up on the character sheet. Also, when choosing a favored enemy, there should be an option to pick no language, because some enemies don't have an applicable language.
While I appreciate I am coming across as a bit rude and I apologise for that, we must also consider that many of these things have been on the list since the middle of last year, and in that same time frame DnD Beyond has released a myriad of completely new features, so I'm just curious as to why the delay at perfecting the character sheet you went to the trouble of revamping in June 2018? If such bug fixes take months, fair enough (though colour me very, very surprised) and if such bug fixes are low-priority, then the only logical counter-question is why? You don't start building the next bridge when your existing one is wobbly.
I'm glad I'm not alone. I'm very new to using dndbeyond for my character sheet. I think the whole thing is really damned great, and as a software product manager, I get that these business rules can be very complex and the bug vs feature dilemma is very real. But, I kept equipping and unequipping my plae armor, wondering why I wasn't seeing a D badge for Stealth in the skills list.
I thought I was doing something wrong, or that there was a bug. I guess it's not so much a bug as a needed feature enhancement. Looking forward to this eventually being addressed. In the meantime, yeah, I just added a 0 bonus with text of 'disadvantage' to make it blue to remind me. If I ever take off my plate, then I'll have to edit that manually to dis-remind myself...

There should be a spot on the character sheet that shows that heavy (and other) armors impose Disadvantage on Stealth.

This should 100% have been in the character sheet update!
There is a symbol/flag that shows up in the equipment section next to the affected armors.

So there is. I often am looking on mobile and it doesn't seem to show up on mobile, but it is there on the desktop version. Good enough.

Hoping that the mods are passing this along. Stealth disadvantage is a huge part of balancing AC and abilities among various classes.
Did this ever get addressed in any form
Not that I ever saw. I still have to look up the chart in armor under equipment.

Right. Or they could literally just mark the disadvantage symbol when you equip armor that causes disadvantage.
Yes they could but that will take time and they have a lot more important things to worry about for now.

It's on the internal list to be actioned.

Thanks! That is what I wanted to hear. Not the biggest fish they have to fry, but I appreciate hearing from a mod that it is on a punch list.
