I'll believe when we eventually see it. I have a feeling the final official Eberron book will have a lot more in it, and cost more.
In other words, we might end up with two products:
1. Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron for $20
2. Eberron Campaign Setting for $(20 + X) with more material than in the final WGtE.
What I mean is, Mearls isn't technically misleading us of WGtE gets Artificer added, but is misleading by omission if the final printed book is not called WGtE and has way more stuff in it.
Based on two Tweets from Mike Mearls (sourced below) -- I'm expecting that basically the WGTE as it is will be updated after playtesting and what you pay for now is what you will get in it's "final" form. There might be a few more things added (maybe the artificer class), but this is basically what it will be. You will get all of the updates as a result of the playtesting.
However, there is likely going to be another, separate, Eberron book. Per his tweets, there will be some overlap/duplicate information, but they will be two separate products meant to compliment each other.
This is be a rountinly updated book on DMs guild then made to be Publish on Demand; so I expect it will be updated content but not a pay for alpha test then pay for actual book kind of deal.
I saw a great explanation that I am paraphrasing here, for those who are PC gamers.
It's like buying a steam game in early access (but less risky).
It's not finished yet, but if you want to use what they have currently developed then go ahead and purchase it and have fun with the current content.
While they're developing it, they will update it and eventually, it will be finished and out of early access, at which point it will be declared official and you will have already purchased it.
If you'd prefer to wait until they finish development and declare the content official, then that's cool too.
Will they release another book to go with it afterwards? Maybe, but that would be DLC content developed after release and you may have to pay extra for that.

Yeah, I think the issue at first was that this wasn’t properly marked Early Access, which burned the folks who don’t like to buy EA games. I know this has been fixed now, and I’m more comfortable with the situation after it’d been addressed by Adam and Mike.
Great analogy, though, for how this content is being sold and developed. :-)
Only thing I want to know is. When will the book be available on the app? I purchased the book yesturday and I like it, but I do not want to read it on just my PC i would like to be able to read it on my tablet and phone an the app without using data.
Depends who you ask. I run my own setting so while interesting I don't give many hoots about the setting itself. I was interested in getting all of the player options for my players -- but I don't *allow* playtest content in my games, outside of one shots. So I have no use of this content as it stands, and I couldn't learn that until after purchasing it that it is playtest only. If they were upfront about that, I could have saved this hassle, and not purchased it at all.
I'm in pretty much the same position, except in my opinion it's worse than just spending money on content I'm not that interested in (given the context). The character options are now mixed in with everything else. At least UA content has that clear insignia. This only has the light gray source book text. That's super annoying. I didn't do much research before purchasing because of the trust that I have for WotC. I'm sad to say I think they've burned a bit of that trust in this case. I wish I hadn't purchased it. I'm really hoping I can refund the purchase.
Also a great point. I really don't want my players seeing the content when they have UA Playtest turned off on their sheets.
This PLEASE this. Can we have a way to disable this content so its not mixed in with all the normal "released" content? Maybe a toggle like for UA but for Beta or something. Having all this playtest content mixed directly in with released content is very annoying and frustrating.

Hopefully this will all be addressed when we get whatever toggle system they said they've been working on that will allow a fairly fine-grained selection of playable content per each individual campaign. Or something like that.

I actually didn't understand this one at all until we identified an issue today where the Eberron content toggle was not working in the character preferences. That will be fixed in the morning. We also plan to add an icon to Eberron content to distinguish it better.
I wanted to share an update to the Introduction of the Wayfinder's Guide for everyone here that will hopefully ease minds on how your purchases is considered "living" content:
Bear in mind: this book presents my current vision of Eberron. This is the world I run at my own table, and the way that I’ve converted its ideas to fifth edition. The game mechanics are usable in your campaign, but at this time they aren’t officially part of the game and aren’t permitted in D&D Adventurers League events. These mechanics will evolve based on player feedback. This is a living document, and as these concepts are refined, this book will also be updated for free; so you will be kept up to date with any changes that are made to it. Beyond that: Eberron is your world as much as it is mine. I hope that this book will provide you with inspiration, but don’t be limited by these ideas or decisions. Think of this as something you can build upon, not a codex of absolute law.
As I said, anything you get from this purchase will always be up-to-date in D&D Beyond.

Thanks for the quick replies on all this stuff. It does show that you guys care about the community. I look forward to seeing the updates as they happen!
I asked for a refund yesterday immediately after learning that this was for playtest. How long will it take to remove this content from my account?

Mike stating "theoretically" two separate things
and
Mike stating theoretical print release will compliment the online version and have some duplicate info

What is the intention on classes? Only the artificer?

I got my refund, and I appreciate the support given by DDB. Thanks for taking care of the issue!
