Hi ! I know a lot of fellow DMs would like to know if the dndbeyond products will be localized for different languages. With the "official" translations under way, one would hope so. So, my question is as follow:
1) Do you plan to make dndbeyond translated products
2) Will the purchase be separate for each language aka do I have to buy it all again
Thanks for your hard work, I love dndbeyond as a DM, my oldschool players can't get enough of it since they (begrudgingly!) tried it and I would like to keep enjoying it in my beloved native French :)
1) Yes, we want to make this happen and are figuring out implementation details.
2) I can't share the details for this yet, but I believe the solution will be entirely reasonable for the community. I'll share more as I'm able to do so.
My impression is that there are no current plans to provide either the sources or the website interface in other languages. They already have a list of improvements that need to be made that is way too long. It has not been mentioned in a dev update in a LONG time.
this is sad, because my players speak just spanish, so we need to use other website to upload digital character sheets. I'm paying suscription just for encounter tool, but i guess is not worth it.
5 years latter. No progress. Same here. Im fluent in english. But not all my players are. Hope we can have this soon. Hope in not back in 5 years wondering whats going on.

Careful about saying No Progress when you haven't checked the actual update pages (which are not on forums).
This have been in progress for 5 years? What I mean is...they can call in 5 more years and still be "in progress". In progress doesn't do anything. What we need is "Released". If they worked as hard in the traduction as they worked in the OGL, this would have been released a few years ago.

The community page talks about the translation of the SRD (System Reference Document). This is the core "skeleton" of 5e rules that has been released under the Creative Commons after the OGL scandal back in January.
This is NOT the same as having content available for purchase in Spanish on DDB, like the Player's Handbook, Monster Manual, Dungeon Master's Guide, and all of the other books, adventures, and content that is not free and is sold.
Yesterday, during the D&D Creator Summit they were asked if DDB would have content in other languages and they only mentioned that the PHB is available in Italian.
Up until today there hasn't been a clear and concise answer that says "Yes, DDB will have content in Spanish. Yes, we are currently working on those translations and making it available for purchase".
We would love to see a clear answer to that concern.

Well...damn. I guess that "In progress" was too good to be true. Like I said...If they worked as hard in the translations as they worked in the OGL, at least, some adventures and some core books would be already available in some languages.
Just saying, they are working so hard to impact in other countries, yet...they wont translate to other languages. They are not being to bright there.

any progress?
I also think that it would be nice to know if they are still working on it or if it has been abandoned or delayed.

Hi, do we have any news on this? There's a huge player base that play spanish and it would really help us.
It was only last year when WotC regained the rights to the spanish version of D&D. They had licensed the translation to a 3rd party.
https://dnd.wizards.com/news/expanding-dnd
So that gives some hope since DDB is now part of WotC, and WotC has the rights to at least English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish.
There is a TON of backend work that would need done to support it though.
