Okay, in order to have a fully functioning PbP forum, you have to, at the bare minimum, have a dice algorithm and dice mechanics that actually work right in the forum. Since you have such a nice text editing tool bar already built in, might be nice to have a dice toolbar?! Also, PbP usually requires several different connected threads: recruitment, discussion, and gameplay at minimum. Anyway those features can be added?
I think locking a thread and having an option to whitelist people in PbP threads would also help. That would stop people from posting in gameplay threads that they are not part of. But I agree, dice mechanic in threads is a must-have :D

All of what you just mentioned are must-haves IMHO
I agree with them as well as roll system would be great and even being able to link spells and or abilities directly to actions for instance (fire bolt.. smite..wildshape) and it would appear ingredients blue and when you move mouse over it it would describe what the spell or ability did

This! Also, simple image editing tools (nothing too fancy) to upload maps and edit them to show token movements and spell/ability effects on the environment would be utopia.

In the Light, we gather to empower our brother. In its grace, he will be made anew. In its power, he shall educate the masses. In its strength, he shall combat the shadow. And, in its wisdom, he shall lead his brethren to the eternal rewards of paradise.

I think this forum setup might be a little raw for PbP. A dice roller is a must.
I really like the way that tavern-keeper organizes their campaigns. The whole campaign is locked down by the GM. Each campaign has a home page, dashboard (updates for players and a quick player list), wiki (posting maps and general campaign information that can be quick referenced later, roleplay (main threads), character (sheets, background and notes), and a discussion section (typically for OOC stuff).
I think something of that nature would be awesome.
I know they don't want to replace VTT, which is cool with me, but to be able to have everything in one place and official would be awesome. Especially with the resources WotC can throw at it vs whats out there. I just reeeeaaaaaly don't want to repay full price for everything or take the time to 'homebrew' everything from the books
PbP would be really cool to participate in here. I know there are lots of things to figure out but it would be so flipping cool :D

also, if we're already talking PbP dice, you might want to think about all the things you can do to make the most of it, like having your character name over/under your screen name, perhaps even be able to choose them from your character sheets. also - options for quickly adding particular game mechanics to a roll, like making an easy-to-type/intuitive HTML code for adding advantage/disadvantage to rolls, options like reroll 1s and/or reroll 2s, add (proficiency/half proficiency/expertise), minimum result (like with higher level rogues)... contests, maybe?

I'm not - nor was I ever - your "obstacle" until you've deemed me as such, nor am I your wallet, my hard earnt money is not yours by deault.

I will always miss what you were, but I will never miss what you've become.
I like using Discord for PbP games. Use different channels for initiative tracking, health, spell slots, etc. An in-character thread, an out of character thread, quest tracking, little quirky channels one of my PCs keeps a journal and writes letters to his kids).
Plus there's you can add to the server for rolling and the like.
In the long run, I can see this being a comfy experience, when the rest of the beta gets built up more.
Easy to link in character sheets constantly and refer to the manual without leaving the site, but slower and more methodical than something like Roll20.
I'd love to have a really simple in-forum map-grid tool that you can just draw on.
I will say that my experience playing over at Giant in the Playground taught me that anything more extreme than separate recruitment and playing sub-forums is probably excessive. That's all they had, and there was never really a problem with randos wandering into a game.
Integrated maps is probably asking a bit much, given Beyond is explicitly not meant to be a virtual tabletop. Inserting images should work fine for map management, honestly.

We will see what we can do on this front - for now, feel free to share that feedback!

I agree with Sander and yes, it'd be pretty useful to have some dice tools.
Some basic dice tools, even if it is just converting 1d6+2 syntax to a roll, would be nice.

Yes, dice mechanics and the possibility of maps would make things much easier.
Now u don't....

For now, anyone wanting to do PbP now, we could use a tool like Rolz.org.

If anybody knows how to go to a new line without double spacing by the way, please tell me!

You can get a new line without extra spacing by doing shift+enter.
