is it correct that Beyond will be adding a campaign management feature at some point int he future? After years of frustration and glitchy problems with Obsidian Portal I am looking for a new campaign management tool; since I have a master tier subscription here I wanted to know if I should wait.
Thanks!! I DM 3 campaigns at the moment and a campaign tool is a great way for me to keep track of sessions, characters, etc. Glad to hear its on the pipeline and would rather access all my online contents from Beyond.
As someone who is just starting to look at D&D Beyond and considering moving all of their content from various disparate sources to one tool, I have questions about the Campaign Management features.
Currently, it looks like after creating a campaign all you can do is add Player notes and GM [private] notes. In the future, will D&D Beyond include a "wiki"-like toolset, like you would find in Obsidian Portal? It would be great to be able to share maps, locations, NPCs, and adventure logs with my players, especially if they're going to be in D&D Beyond to access their character sheets.
They are still looking at user feedback and determining what campaign management will actually look like, but some form of campaign management is on the roadmap. It sounds like encounter building is probably the highest priority. Dunno if there will be wiki-type capabilities. I guess it depends what people want the most.

I wouldn't bother, personally, if something else is working for you. I'm using DDB with the Toolbox extension in Chrome to manage encounters, and write adventure logs up in my notes, but that's it. I'm really looking forward to a fully implemented campaign management system but, honestly, it'll be at least a couple of years before it's anything like complete.
I've been just using Word/Excel programs to prep, with Tabletop Simulator being the "table" itself. I'm not sure what the DDB campaign manager would really look like, but it'd definitely be something I'd look into as a rather new DM looking for tools and tips to help with.
I would love to see a fully functional campaign management tool included in dndbeyond. But if it does happen I wouldn’t expect it any time soon. I don’t have any insider knowledge, but while the character sheet revamp WAS worth the wait, we still had to wait...
I’m currently pinning my hopes on a kobold.club type encounter calculator getting spun up by the dndbeyond team, but again that is just my hope...
I’d suggest you take a look at onenote. I moved my campaign there late last year, and love it.
Currently I'm just using Microsoft OneNote. It effectively functions like a for me Wiki (I have sections for campaign logs, players, locations, factions & NPCs, etc.). But my players can't interact with it. I haven't used another system because (as far as I can tell) it will be virtually impossible to get players to consistently log into TWO different services for keeping track of their campaign, much less one.
Simply being able to have subpages within DnD Beyond's campaign management would be incredibly useful...but I would like to see them implement something akin to Obsidian Portal. As it is right now I would have to link out to Obsidian Portal (or some other wiki-type website) from my DnD Beyond campaign page, and that's just inefficient! 😉
A friend of mine recently turned me onto Trello. It's taking a fair bit of time to transfer and organize all of the notes collected so far over from the Google Drive we've been keeping, but I think it will be worth it. It's meant to be a productivity assistant to help organize project developments, but it didn't take long for me to learn how to set it up kind of like a wiki. I'd say it's not as robust or custom as OneNote, but I think it trades that for ease of use.
Basically, you create a "board" (essentially a page), and on that you can make different "lists". You can then add "cards" to each list. So on the one I'm working on, I have one list for locations, another for NPCs, another for clues, etc. On each card, you can add labels (or tags, idk why they had to give everything special names) to make sorting through them easier. Lists and cards can be moved around easily by clicking and dragging, or by right-clicking and selecting a specific location (which means you can easily make a list for an initiative tracker, and link the appropriate DDB pages to each monster card). You can also link cards to each other.
For example, I have a card for the general region where the campaign takes place. From that card, I have immediate links to the different locations in that region. So let's say I go to a town. On that town's card, I can then go to each location in the town, and from those locations, I can go to the cards of the NPCs who can usually be found there. You can also attach images to each card, and approved users can leave comments (which I find better for tracking progress than just editing the original contents of the card).
Another cool feature is that I can set up different boards, and moving cards or lists from board to board is easy. So I can do one board for my players to keep track of everything they need, and I can do a separate one for DM Notes that's private. And when my players discover a new place or meet a new NPC, I can have that card typed up and ready on my DM "screen", and just move it to where it goes once they "unlock" it.
Here's a link to my WIP. The campaign is PotA, so beware of spoilers.
DDB Devs, if you see this, I will love you forever if your campaign manager is at least this good (but I bet you can do better since this isn't exactly made for this purpose).

Hi there,
the short answer is yes, there will be.
Currently the team are working on adding further homebrew capability and an overhaul of the character sheet.
I do know that there are numerous campaign management features on the roadmap, sometime after that, but I don't have dates.
