Is there currently any race in source materials or UA for a canine humanoid other than Gnolls? Like a Wolf or dog version of a Tabaxi. I'd rather use something with a bit more grounding in the world lore of Forgotten Realms than resorting to a Homebrew right out of the gate.
EDIT - as an aside, I think the closest thing to a canine race we have are werewolves. We've gotten a couple bird races, a turtle race, a snake race and a cat race, but rats, spiders, wolves seem to be reserved as antagonists, especially in the mind of weres and drider types.
I want to say there are gnoll race stats floating around somewhere but I can't remember if they were in a specific book or UA or if I just saw them on some DM's Guild content around the time Volo's Guide came out...

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
I thought that Shifters were more like shapeshifters and lycanthrope. Im looking for more like (for lack of a better example) the Worgen race of WoW, but not cursed.
I just want an paralel of the Tabaxi or Aarakocra, just not a cat or Bird but a wolf.
Edit- man... why do dogs get no love? Man's best friend and we can't give them a race of beast people

I know i used to play a Gnoll in 3.5 and I had to roll Chaotic/Evil.
I've actually got some rough notes going on a canine race that a player of mine requested a few years ago. It's actually on my to-write list to flesh more. It didn't go into the standard breeds of canine that we have here in the real world, but it was quite wolf and environment based. Sub-races were based on different canine types in the world, African wild dog, gray wolf, and fox. I might look into writing it up sooner than later now that I read this post though.

Canines do get a lot of love. Wolf is an awesome barbarian totem, for instance, and is front and center in the core book. Cat-based monsters tend to be more evil and antagonists, while canines actually have representations like the Blink Hound, that are more friendly towards humanoids. The only thing that felines have over canines is that the Tabaxi are a thing, while there's no specific PC perma-shifted werewolf race.
Are you looking as a player or as an DM creating something new?
The problem with gnolls is that the Monster Manual and Volo's establishes them as remorseless killing machines on par with demons. I think it'd make more sense to homebrew a different canine humanoid race that isn't driven solely by an urge to kill and feed.
Well, there's the Khenra of Plane Shift: Amonkhet. They're Jackal people, though typically you'd want a pair of players to play them (or have an NPC with the party) because they have a feature called Khenra Twins which either works as the halfling's Lucky feature if you can see your twin or gives you immunuty to the frightened condition if your twin is dead (note it does nothing if your twin is alive but in the next room over or the like).

Early Basic D&D had a race known as Lupin for the "The known world" setting AKA Mystara. Many other mentions of Lupin seem to have them as some kind of semi-lycanthrope rather than the racial enemies (and hunters of) of Lycanthropes.
I have yet to get around to converting my AD&D playable race version for 5th ed.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Has anyone made progress with this as a potential PC?
It's not 5e material(sadly, I'm not super familiar with 5e despite being here), but the Oriental Adventures book introduced a race called Hengeyokai, who are humanoids with the ability to shapeshift between a mostly human form, an animal form, and a hybrid form, with the species of animal chosen at character creation.
Dogs are one of the possible choices, however (and correct me if I'm wrong), I don't believe Oriental Adventures takes place in the Forgotten Realms.

Oriental Adventures setting of Kara-Tur did get moved into the Forgotten Realms early on. Though the Rokugan setting used later was not part of the Forgotten Realms. Sword Coast Adventures Guide makes mention of Kara-Tur as part of the realms for 5th edition.
I have seen in the past people use the Tabaxi race and simply reskin it. I did that with a fox and I have seen raccoons as well. Though a wolf may be too different. You could also use the gnoll in UA and reskin that.
Why not reskin the Kobold race to be a canine one? Pack tactics is a wolf creature characteristic. Just change out sensitivity to sunlight for some other penalty.

If memory serves, at one point there was an UA with the Shifter race Eberron. I think this was it - http://media.wizards.com/2015/downloads/dnd/UA_Eberron_v1.1.pdf

Looks like there ate two gnoll options here on the D&D Beyond homebrew section:

Anyone check the MtG Planeswalker conversion stuff for 5e? There might be something there?
So I did find this

About the closest I've found to what I had in mind.
The lupin race seems to fit pretty well
