And I feel that they would want to explain in detail everything about the new sheet at the time of launch so everyone gets a full understanding and they can avoid as many posts with questions as possible.
Pahahahahaha. As if people will read all of that before complaining.
However due to the fact they said reasoning is included with the guess. I have a feeling we may see this friday as per ScottySkids comment.
Yeah, that's my guess as well. Although, the logic isn't 100% sound since it could be dropped a few hours or even the day before, along with all the explanation posts here, and still used and announced in CR.

Personally I hope it is before Friday. Mainly cause I have a session friday evening and I really do not want to be trying to learn a brand new sheet right before the session. But I know no matter when it launches someone in the world will be like could it not have been sooner cause reason x, y and z.

As some others have already elaborated on, I think it's the best timing for them to work around Critical Role's schedule and also control the release with their own release posts.
Doesn't mean I'm not refreshing again and again every day due to incredible levels of hype!
Doesn't allow grouping of any kind (the giant list thing is unwieldy)
Possessions text box is just a text box and isn't sortable, doesn't calc weight, etc.
Will the new system address these issues?
(The character sheet is pretty terrible too, but the new one looks awesome!)
Just for the record in case you guys hadn't seen the new Q&A livestream:
Yes to ALL of the above, except no containers and no grouping. (Not till later in the year.)
It's enough to make the inventory workable now, but still definitely going to be looking forward to containers as soon as those come out.
Thanks dndBeyond team! The sheet looks great!
Thanks for sharing that info. I did indeed miss the livestream and if there's a transcript anywhere I haven't found it (pointers welcome).
Was there by chance any mention of tracking money and inventory costs? At the moment I have to use a spreadsheet as well as DnDBeyond, I'd love to just stick with DDB.
Friday is good for me, but to be completely honest I wouldn't complain if it was Saturday. I'd only be kinda sore if it was Sunday because that means I have to listen to that Kevin Federline album.
With a game starting in a little under 24 hours, I'm constantly wondering if it'll drop mid-game for us.
That'll be interesting.
Chances are whenever they do it, it will be inconvenient for someone, considering they have a worldwide userbase. I'm sure they are doing their due diligence and release major updates when least impactful to the the majority of their users.

I really hope it will be available within the next 18 hours as my group has our last session tomorrow night before a two session break, meaning we won't be back until the 19th of July :(

I can't recall exactly but I think it's one of the things that won't be coming with the initial release but is planned, along with weight controls and containers, in later updates.

One of the reasons that the character sheet revamp has taken so long is that there are some major changes to the structure of the data, so that it will be much easier to add further features to it.

I was wondering that last night. Like, if the new sheet was essentially just a new skin for the data that was already present, or if they were having to go in and redo everything from the ground up. I'd ask for some behind-the-scenes info, but I also don't want to distract them from working on other upcoming features haha.

I think that's one point that has possibly been lost in the noise. From what I can gather from what's been said, they seem to have put in place a lot of foundations while also working on multiple projects that will leverage the power of those foundations and that we'll be seeing a bunch of cool shit coming out in the near future because of it, making the wait worthwhile.
At least, that's what I'm choosing to believe because the agony, pain and suffering that I have endured has to mean something, dammit!

The character sheet revamp is going to be the framework for future features, making it easier to implement new stuff in the future. It's also going to make it easier to get information at hand, instead of having to go digging for it. It's the start of making the toolset much more user friendly.
I'm all on board with their reasons for not announcing release dates. But I now have a modest proposal:
How about announcing 'Not Release Dates'? And by that I mean, someone from DDB drop a post in this thread each morning that says, 'It won't be today.'
That would save me a lot of time. And that's the main reason to do anything.

I'm just one moderator joining in the conversation. I think the people that are interested in the new character sheet are hyped enough. :)
