I created my first Rogue Assassin based loosely on Christopher Walken's characters in Suicide Kings, Prophecy, Batman. I wasn't every trying to do a full impression of his voice, rather I focused on the disjointed pauses he would take talking, the menace and the strange sense of humor. He has a very matter of fact approach to dangerous situations. I'd pass notes to the DM about NPCs I had poised so that the Paladin in the group didn't know what I was up to, provided a lot of tension.
Currently playing a Tabaxi monk that I've based on Tasslehoff Burrfoot who's mannerisms are part cat and part inquisitive 5 year old kid - he's been a blast to play - and I don't think I've annoyed my companions too much yet.
My first character was a bard with a backstory nearly identical to Batman's but he got kicked out of Waterdeep for all the collateral damage he caused.
I've had the idea of playing Gandalf type character as an Eldritch Knight with a few levels into warlock pact of the archfey, or possibly just play him as an Eldritch knight.
Surprisingly the wizard class doesn't fit Gandalf at all, the balrog melee fight comes to mind to why I choose eldritch knight.
I've built a few (it is a fun way to start a character)
1. Ezekiel Stone (from old TV show Brimstone) A ranger/Warlock bent of hunting down Demons, his Warlock pact is Field pact as he is dealign with the devil agains Demons
2. Scorpion from mortal combat, A Monk/Warlock
3. Mad Bomber what bombs at midnite, A human Artificer, Alchemist. Crazy and just wants to blow everyone up, especially his rival the hero "Tick".
Anyone have any ideas on trying to create Midoriya from My Hero Academia or steven universe, i was thinking human monk for Midoriya but i dont know where to go based off that, or where to go for Steven.
My current PbP character was accidentally based off of The Hulk, they are a normal, sweet Dragonborn, but during every battle, on every round after the 1st, they have to make a wisdom saving throw, if they fail they attack the enemy with a fury. I didn't realize they were basically the hulk, until about a week after making them.

Update: I've actually made a similar character to Ezekiel stone being a Ranger/cleric, Less mad and just gone to a more Higher power bend than the working for Evil thing. Still hunting the Devils/Demons just a little more religious now (Light Cleric)
My first character was loosely based of Flame Princess from Adventure time. Fire Genasi Paladin with Oath of Truth(Homebrew). Sadly, I could only play her for a few sessions before the campaign got canceled, but I really enjoyed it and want to play her again at some point
Hey! Nice discussion on the topic, It's very informative to us. The PHB build was an Archer Battlemaster with Sharpshooter feat through the media. The Escort Radar Detector device has GPS system which detects the location. Thanks to all share a view.
I had a player who liked to make comic book characters. For my game he had a wild magic sorcerer with a crowbar that liked to beat people up with it. He was pure chaos.

I created a few NPC's biased of the cast of Mighty Magiswords. Also one of the main kingdoms in my campaign is Rhyboflaven also from Mighty Magiswords

Please Help!
I'd peg steven as definitely a bard or a paladin mix you know, whereas his race could definitely be half-something otherworldly
- The Mad Hatter
Please tell me you made them salt the Flail Snail.
My Halfling Warlock is based around the actor Herve' Villechaize. He played Tattoo on Fantasy Island as well as Knick-Knack in a Bond film.
Best part...he comes with his own little voice and accent.

How many Jason Todds did he run through?
