Could a character who is a Fighter 2/Cleric 1 (War Domain) take 4 attacks in one round?
The way I see it, if this character uses the Attack Action to hit their enemy and because they chose War Domain they can attack again as a Bonus Action.
We are at 2 attacks so far. Now all you have to do is use your Action Surge and do the same thing, attack using the Attack Action and make another attack as a Bonus Action.
Am I right or not, help me figure this out and thanks for any who does help me answer my question.
It meant that using Action Surge means on your turn you would get to use your action, an extra action and possibly a bonus action if you had something to use as a bonus action.
Your 4th attack is your reaction if your opponent tries to retreat, but it’s not guaranteed.
Your reaction is on their action not yours, so they would still be at 3 attacks. But that said if they were a Rogue they could if they hit do another Surprise Attack which is always fun lol
Ok, can you give me a example where the Action Surge possible Bonus Action is usable.
And once again thanks for the help.
I think you are reading it slightly wrong. Action surge does not give you a possible bonus action. it gives an extra action on top of your already (action and bonus action).
Look at it like this. Your character has an action and possible bonus action in a normal turn. Action surge adds an extra action on top of this.
the "possible bonus action" it mentions is part of the normal turn you can add action surge to.
Everyone above is correct Action surge lets you take another Action, not bonus action, or reaction.
So when you Action surge you can
1. Attack action which gives your your number of attacks this does not include bonus action obviously
2. Dash
3. Disengage
4. Use an item that takes action to use.
This is also the same result as if you were dual wielding which takes your bonus action to swing with your offhand
There is only 1 class in the game that gets 3 attacks at the start and 4 attacks at level 5 and that is monk but they have to burn a resource for it where later fighter gains 4 attacks naturally and will often hit with the same damage dice endgame for no resource but at this point monk picks up utility fighter doesn't have

A Rogue's Sneak Attack is NOT an additional attack - it's just extra damage on one attack per turn. I wish it was an additional attack action...

Action surge grants an additional action - it doesn't grant an additional bonus action, so you would have 3 attacks.

But if you read the Action Surge passage it says you get another Action and possibly a Bonus Action.

You still only get one bonus. And it states that as not everyone gets bonus actions, as bonus actions are dependent on other things.
