Any news on the contributor front? My players are almost done with Dwellers of the Forbidden City and are most likely heading into the Fane of the Night Serpent soon, or the first level of the tomb.
Well I could not finish it, and I plan to resume it as soon as possible.
Oh, also, is it possible for the extension to add the tooltips to maps that aren't in a lightbox? Like, for instance, this map (spoiler for Tomb of Annihilation):
Or does the extension require something that is inbuilt into the pages of DDB that isn't in the map links?
That is a hard one, because I use some of the code already on page that is from DDB (mainly the tooltip code). So a page with a single image does not have it. So for now there is no way o doing it.
I know it's been a little while since the last post, but thank you so much for this! It seems like a lot of good additions - I was linked for the character sorting, but I've sent this to my GMs too and will almost certainly use traits within my own game(s) (when I get around to them!)
Thanks for the feedback!
Also after the last update on DDB the extension is removing the new filter on my characters page. I will try to send a new version today fixing it. Until them go to extension options (the wrench on the extension popup) and uncheck "Enable folders and sort on 'My Characters' page".
Toc on compendium side menu. Thanks to Dawson Conway (https://github.com/dconman). This is not enabled by default. To turn it on head to the extension options (the wrench on extension pop up page) and check the "Show table of contents on compendium pages";

OMG! That ToC addition is orgasmic! Thanks for the updates.
I wanted to reiterate how incredibly good this Table of Contents addition is and how much it contributes, as one of many great features, towards making Beyond Help an almost mandatory add-on for this site.

Drawing mode that enables a toolbar to draw areas on any map of any compendium of DDB;
Any area is also editable by a form on options page;
Custom map areas are organized on bundles that can be exported, shared and imported by the community.
Notifications fix (no more sound and fixes for windows 10 changes). Also it is possible to turn off notifications on extension options
Toc entries for "Waterdeep Dungeon of the Mad Mage".
Well custom map references is finally out. There is no tutorial yet XD. There are many ways to make it easier to create map areas, but the way it is now should be feasible by most of users.
If anyone wants to try it:
Head to extension options (right-click on extension icon -> options, or click the wrench on extension popup);
On Extra Map References create a new bundle by clicking on New Map References Bundle button;
Click on Start Drawing on the toolbar of the new bundle;
After that any tab with DDB compendium will be reloaded to enter on drawing mode. If none is opened just create a new tab and go to desired compendium chapter;
On compendium page go to desired map;
Notice that the drawing toolbar is present on page;
Next step is to select a drawing tool from toolbar. Let's start with the first one Area, just click on it or press the shortcut on keyboard "1";
Using the mouse drag on the desired map, a rectangle should be drawn;
Choose a menu entry on side menu to be linked to the map. Mouse over it and notice a new tooltip (only present during drawing mode). Right-click on menu entry to copy the Menu Element Id;
Go back to the tab with the extension options and paste the Menu Element Id copied on field Menu Element Id of the new form that should be now on the create map reference bundle;
Back on compendium tab a map link should appear on the selected menu entry;
Next step is to link the drawn area to a section of the compendium page;
Mouse over the desired header of a section on the same page of the map and right-click to copy the Header Id;
Go to options tab and find the entry on the form related with the created area and paste the Header Id on the field Header Id;
Back on compendium tab unselect the drawing tool clicking on it again (or hit "1" again).
Now if all went well a mouse over the drawn area should show a tooltip of the desired compendium section, and the header of the desired section should have now a button to go back to the map;
When the work is finished just head to the extension options of the current map reference bundle and click on Finish Drawing on the toolbar. All compendium tabs should reload again to go out of drawing mode.
And this is only the tip of the iceberg, there are other drawing tools for the other two types of areas, also tools to modify/delete created areas.
Warning all this data is only saved locally, so make sure to export and backup your map refs bundles. (and share the good ones =) )
I think this is a good intro. My wife made a bunch of reference for Curse of Strahd. I can share it later. Also if anyone wants I can make a simple bundle with a sample map using all basic features to be used as reference.
Also about TOC antries I added them for "Waterdeep Dungeon of the Mad Mage". Not yet "Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica" because nor me or anyone that are on my shared campaigns have it. So if anyone with the book wants the compendium TOC on side menu for it just give a shout out on this thread.
If anyone has any question about custom map refs feel free to PM me.
My wife made a bunch of reference for Curse of Strahd.
If, Heaven forbid, your wife ever decides to leave you, I'll be here...
XD. Believe it or not she is the DM of our CoS campaign (do not tell her but she is a way better DM than me). Also I hope she does not leave me, but thanks for the compliment XD.
Btw I forgot to say that for the next version I also want to add a little more customization to "extra map refs", like changing the default color of areas for each bundle (maybe make it possible to customize each area). Also create the 4th type of area, the "custom comment", a simple area with a tooltip of free text (not sure if simple text or rich text yet). Also maybe make it easier to link areas to sections of the current page (this is the most common scenario) without the need to go to options page form.
Besides that the roadmap includes solve the storage issue. Not sure if it is that critical anymore, because most the new features use only local storage not the sync one. Also I think it is the time to integrate DDB with other stuff. Sometime ago Martzcodes was working on a discord integration with the old character sheet and it was amazing (clicks on character sheet -> rolls on discord channel). So discord and slack would not be that difficult (both have incredible integration support). But what I really want to is integrate with another VTT, considering the late polemic with Roll20 maybe Astral Tabletop could be a good candidate. Well this is for the future, more info to come XD.
Thank you so much for the immense work you've put into the plugin. DNDBeyond just feels incomplete without it.
Would you please consider adding encounter difficulty calculator akin to Kobold Fight Club? There was a text-box for the number of players and second one for their level, you could then just generate <easy>, <medium>, <hard>, <deadly> next to it.
Another neat feature would be to be able to export the encounter as JSON. That way we could copy/paste it into OneNote or other planning tool and later import that encounter on a different computer.

Hi, thanks for the feedback!
Those ideas are really cool, but to be honest I didn't release improvements to Beyond Helper encounter builder on the last whole year. The main reason is that there is another extension that in my opinion handles it better: D&D Toolbox Chrome Extension from Mouse0270. I have decided to focus on other areas since Mouse0270 is handling the encounter builder really well. He was kind of loaded with work lately, but I am sure soon he will be back.
Besides that Adam (Badeye), already mention on dev updates that the official encounter builder from DDB will start development the next year. So maybe soon we will have a oficial one!!
I've been using this plugin to track my encounters for a while now, and I like it - with one small exception. It would be helpful if there was a way to say 'this monster took 37 damage' and have the HP total automatically adjust to that. Making it work somewhat similar to the Creature section of the D&D Beyond character sheet would be ideal.
Of course, since D&D Beyond's official encounter builder is on its way sometime in the next twelve months and will *probably* have a feature like this (since it should be trivial to do after they have the rest of the encounter builder in place) there's less need, but still - it'd make tracking my monster's HP a little easier until D&D Beyond gets its official version out the door.

Hi! Thanks for the feedback! Despite the message above, this request is really easy. So I did it XD. Just click on monster hp bar and add or subtract values (+x adds x hp, -x subtracts x hp, x sets hp to x).
New version (0.15.0) is out, not the big one yet XD:
Small change on hp form of encounter builder. Entering a value with "+" or "-" will add/subtract the current hp by the value instead of replacing it;
TOC side menu revamp:
Highlight menu entry on scroll is back (as it is by default on DDB);
I'm trying to divorce myself of Google reliance. The one thing that makes me continue to have to use Chrome is when running a game; I can't do it without Beyond Help. I don't know how browser extensions work but I read recently that Chrome, Firefox and even Edge are going to be using the WebExtensions API in order to standardise extensions. If it's possible, will that mean you making Beyond Help using the WebExtensions API? And if that happens, does that mean I'll be able to finally ditch Chrome and switch to Firefox 100%?

I need to check but I am almost sure I used a couple of things exclusive to chrome, but you are right. Also, a couple of people already asked me to make it work on other browsers. I just need to finish the next big feature and I think this could be the next big one. I finally got a week off from work, so I hope I can get big progress.
