In common: ”Well, for starters the totem is alive. An actual copper dog. Bring it back if we must. These kobolds want it badly enough that their chief chased it into territory they are afraid of. It might be worth a look itself.”
Smudge relaxes his hands, realizing he had almost drawn blood on his palms from his talons. That had gone better than he had feared. He nods thanks to Sage and Honor for watching his back, shrugs at Thasa and seems to notice Shaylin examining the room:
"I am not getting much but I am seeing a pattern to a flame lord, may be primordial. I hope we all like warm places because I think that is what we might get here."
Sage nods and looks to the others in interest. She wants to see this totem, finding it intriguing that it was a lava hound. She hums thoughtfully to herself
"It sounds like we have a place to go and a thing to find, to me that sounds like what we were looking for. No need to spend too much time waiting around now, let's get underway."
Thasa carries out his slightly ritualistic checking of weapons and armour as well mentally readying himself. He walks up to the entrance to the trophy room and checks the area looking for anything suspicious and looking to see exactly what the trophies are.

Smudge moves along to The passage Ferin had indicated, taking up position alongside the corridor wall. He hunches back into his robes, and the luster less black cloth hides his bright coloring well as he instinctively seeks the shadows.
Dazed and thoroughly out of her element in this adventured, Zanna had remained quiet throughout the entire encounter with the kobolds. Glad that her compatriot's quick wittedness saw less bloodshed, she sighed when they were roped into finding a runaway totem. Correction, a runaway lava hound. Adjusting her component pouch, her forehead wrinkled as she went through her spells she had ready. If they wanted it alive, then hopefully, it could be put to sleep and then bound in some way. "How do we capture a lava hound?" She kept herself to the back.

Thasa has moved in front of the group prudently to get a better look at the room in front of them. She feels something but can't put her finger it.
The room is large with several monstrous heads hanging on either side and leaving a clear passage in the middle. On the other side, a stairway can be seen leading down. There are smudges ( sorry for that ) on the stairs but you are too far to make anything out.
Out of the corner of her eyes, she can see that the dragon head, a small one but still very impressive seems to follow your every move. On the other side, a many-eyed monstrosity is chewing something that looks a bit too much like a bone. When you turn your head toward it the heads are stiff and unmoving.
A shiver runs through your spine and you are about to tell the others that the room is not safe when you catch a glimpse of something. A spark that shouldn't be there. Magic. It dawns on you. It is all an illusion.
(Saving Throw Wisdom 10 with advantage thanks to Thasa's quick thinking and clear eyes to cross the room)
"None of this is what it seems, magic fills the air"
Thasa walks through the centre of the room, his hand comfortably resting on the hilt of his rapier. His belief that it is all an illusion calms his fears.

“ A lava hound. Fantastic. Well, worst case I can throw ice at it and herd it back.”
"I'm ready if you are," Honor replies to Smudge. "We have a map now right," Honor asks moving towards the exit.
