I have been playing 5e for about a year now. I did a small amount of DMing IRL, and would like to try it out with PbP.
I am recruiting four to five players to play Princes of the Apocalypse with. If you are interested, please post on this thread explaining why you are interested, your experience with PbP, and summarize (no more than 5 sentences) a character you might want to play (note: this does not have to be the character you will actually play).
Owning PotA on DDB is good, but not required.
(We will be starting at 1st level.)

Horatio Hirschfeld - Squire imbued with fae powers, in the Coliseum of Conquest (W2/L1) DM for Reavers of Harkenwold, and sometimes The Fighting Grounds of the Coliseum
I've been playing D&D for about a year and a half now but have never played a PBP before but I'm very interested in trying it. My work is usually pretty relaxed so it should make participating pretty easy for this.
I'll be playing Yuron Skit a wannabe bounty hunter who has an interest of getting into the trade. Yuron takes time to warm up to new people but is very loyal once you've earned his trust. He was born to Daggerford and raised as a merchants son but found that lifestyle far too boring so now he likes to wander between small towns looking for potential bounties to accept.
This campaign will likely go fairly slowly, as a new DM I probably won't post more than once or twice a day. During combat I will likely post more often.

Hello I 've been playing RPG games for ages or just 30 years. I have two kids that keep me busy and work that keep me alive( or is it the other way ... ?). I usually end up being DM and loving it and I wanted to try playing for once. I just tried PbP for a year now and I find that it suits better my new way of life. And also I m craving RPG sessions. I m able to post a few times a day but I like to take some time to write longer posts. I m more of an RP gamer (But I do love throwing dices).
I really want to play a wizard. Probably a battle mage. Human and who was not really brought up by people who have wizards in their lives.Farmers, merchants,..
I'd like to play if you'll have me. I've played PBP and PBEM starting about 15 years ago but only more recently returned to play 5e on DDB. I don't know the PoTA setting and that appeals to me, exploring a new campaign setting with a new DM. In the Reincarnated, that we both play in I rolled a genasi, the first one I ever played. I'd like explore the genasi more and play a fire genasi wild mage sorcerer. A sarcastic, hot headed, pyromaniac obsessed with fire and spells using fire and light.

Wizards are great! Since this is a published adventure, the roleplaying possibilities are not huge, although PotA seems to have more than other published adventures. Also, as a new DM, I can't guarantee that the role playing will be very smooth on my part. I'd love to get some tips from you, with your experience as a DM!

I'd be interested in playing. I'm interested because I simply like playing D&D and I understand trying DMing in a new medium and I'm actually playing in a campaign with a new PbP DM so I believe my preference for RPing would be a good fit for this campaign. I started playing PbP back in 2009 on penandpapergames.com and other forums and briefly took a hiatus from it for the past few years until recently so I have several years of PbP exp and currently involved with 3 campaigns on this forum. I am active usually from 4pm-8amPST and can post several times daily.
I would prefer to play a High Elf Wizard. He is a Noble who has spent his life as owner/proprietor of a magical trinket shop in the nicer quarter of Waterdeep; mainly serving as a component resupply and magical antique general store for the nobility and random adventurers. Due to an unscrupulous Lord of Waterdeep attempting to purchase properties with secret access to the underground dungeons, his shop is now under threat of being unlawfully purchased. He puts his understudy in charge of watching the shop (and delaying the acquisition of his livelihood) while he sets out to gain information on this nefarious lord or gain money so he can purchase said information. Rumor had it the lord has dealings with the thieves underground and even more evil sources, so he sets out to find a way to expose this man and save his shop. Not only is he responsible for supplying people, he also acts as a secret access point for prospective adventurers to the underbowels of the city to keep them clear of foul creatures.

FYI, I probably can't incorporate this backstory very much into the campaign, as it's not directly linked to PotA, although I could possibly tie it in at the end. Also, we already have another wizard, so you may not want to play as the same class (if you do, and The G111 doesn't mind, that's fine too).

I've been playing D&D in some form for decades (I'm not saying how many :) ), currently DM two games one PBP and one IRL, played in a few PBP games and plenty of IRL games.
I've got all the content on DnDbeyond so that isn't an issue.
I'd like to play either a human warlock ( I just like the mechanics of them, part warrior, part magic user and getting their spell slots back on a short rest is great) or a tabaxi shadow magic sorcerer, it feels part rouge and part magic user, kind of a sneaky nightcrawler vibe with energy bolts. I could probably work them in with knowing a bit about the pota backstory.
Hope that works, I notice there's quite a few magic users so I'd also be open to playing a ranger or blood hunter if you need some muscle
Ah, apologies, I must not have seen that. I would play an elf Ranger or a Bard/Rogue mutliclass instead. The backstory could be something along the lines of their parents being murdered by a demon (or any other evil being) and they're out for revenge.

Hey! I'm pretty interested in playing PotA, as I've never played it before. I've also been looking for some new campaigns, but no new ones were popping out, so I'm rather happy that there's a free place in here (if there is, that is). I've played D&D for half a year now, and I'm currently a DM and a PC in two other campaigns. I've only played 5e, so I think I've got all the experience I need. I have PotA both in pdf and on DDB, as some subscription users are currently sharing it with me.
I'd like to play as Oxon Gael, a human Fighter that wanders around the Forgotten Realms ever since he was dismissed as a soldier. He travels as a mercenary, taking requests as he deems convenient, and only ever gaining as much as needed to eat and sleep comfortably.
I know there's already a human, so I may change my race if G111 and/or you prefer so.
