Lerithyn finishes his inspection of the system, "As Ilmo said - It's very archaic in design. No wonder the place is falling apart." He does note the signet above the door though, "Anyone recognize the symbol?" He points to it quizzically.
"That is probably some sort of tribute to the dragons who helped the giants against the Quori so long ago... Who knew the giants could work on such a small scale with crystal, right?"
The lift closes its doors after everyone gets in, and a split second makes them feel slightly dizzy.
The top floor of the Azure Tower once held an elegant dining hall for its residents. An enormous kitchen stands tidy but abandoned in the center of the room. Tables surround the central chamber, arranged so that their occupants can gaze over the landscape. The giant linen tablecloths bear magic effects that keep them perpetually clean and wrinkle-free. A few spherical silvery everbright lanterns lie unnoticed beneath some tables, hidden from view by the table clothes. On the corners, what were huge crystal boxes lie shattered, whatever their content was, no longer there. Some supporting bars made of golden filigree make you suspect of regular-sized ornaments stolen long ago.
"Well now... this appears to be a giant kitchen. I don't have very much experience with cooking, but I imagine some very interesting feasts were held here." Lerithyn heads over to the edge of the tower to look over the landscape. "I thought there were no windows in this tower." He inspects the windows closer to see if they're made out of any special material.
After a moment he pauses and looks over his shoulder, "I imagine if we're to find the mineral we seek, it might have been used as decoration for some of the cookware. A giant's favorite tankard or such. It would make sense that it would be on a floor that specializes in hospitality, right Ilmo?" He continues his inspection of the glass.
Cassiel is mesmerized with the sheer size of the furniture and utensils in this floor, and as Aukan he walks the floor looking at every detail. But in his mind, Barachiel reminds him: Cassiel, we should be looking for the heirloom, Ilmo and Lady Sorola hired us for that reason and we still have our main objective to follow.
To that Adriel couldn't stay quiet and commented: And if we find it we might get a better bargain to us, a sort of finders reward or keep it to ourselves and sell it later, I am sure it is worth something...
Ignoring Adriel, as it is always the right thing to do, Cassiel focusing his search on the corners and crannies. Investigation1d20+2=16.
To Lerithyn he says: Good point Master Lerithyn, the jewel might have been used as a decoration since it must be surely of beautiful and expert craft.
Stribog seeing the huge utensils, decided to take a a few as keepsakes for himself. With some effort he was able to grab a spoon and maybe a knife. "Is there anything else in here that we could salvage?"

Master Stribog, please remember the warning from the guardian, we should not take nothing original from this tower. I hope the jewel we are after is a later addition to the belongings of the Giants, for if not I sense trouble on our way out...
With that said, Cassiel continues his survey of the floor.
"That's a very good point, White One" Ilmo replied to Lerithyn. "A favorite piece of cutlery for the Big Giant Boss could have this piece as a holder of some sort." He starts looking at the table clothing's corners, searching for a pin.
Aukan looks around the corners, but besides broken glass, he can't find anything. Every single piece held in the crystal boxes is gone.
Nonetheless, as Stribog grabs a spoon, he feels the temperature around him gets lower all of a sudden, and he can see his breath condensing as it leaves his mouth.
(DM will need an Investigation check from you, Stribog. And just in case... some initiative rolls from everyone. You know: "just in case")
"I don't think it's a good idea to pick anything up, Sgt. Stribog." Lerithyn glances at Stribog as he picks up the spoon and shrugs. "Very well." (Init 12)
"Guardian. You said before that enemies of the giants would not be able to leave. I have two questions. First, how do you determine someone is an enemy of the giant? and Second, how do you prevent them from leaving? We don't really want to be here - this is a business trip - but we are here, and I want to ensure the safety of those I am here to protect, which includes knowing what we shouldn't do."

Holding with both his hands a giant silver spoon, Stribog notices they have a pearl embedded on the handle, unlike a golden one, which a much more elaborated ornament.
Ra'sakar walks to the elevator, talking to it, and it replies: "Anyone who speaks and understands the Golden Language of the Giants is a friend... and his friends are our friends. Friends do not steal from the Giants. Those who do, won't pass out my doors on their way down..."
When the Lift responds, his voice fades down in the last words, and the image of those skeletons on the lift's floor comes to your mind.
"What business brings you to this time forsaken place?" the Lift asks.
Hearing the warning from both Cassiel and Lerithyn, Stribog quickly puts the spoon down. He looks to everyone and says, "Sorry everyone just wanted a memento to take back home." He then puts his hands in his coat pockets and begins to laugh nervously, hoping he didn't just make a fool of himself.

As Stribog puts the spoon back on its place, cold dissipates quickly.
Ilmo replies: "I'd take one myself, but they seem very hard to carry around."
Joining Ra'sakar, he adds: "I don't speak Giant... I hope you're not bargaining with Magic teleporter here to kill us all as it did with those poor bastards!".
He smiles to let Ra'sakar know he's joking... while being serious at the same time.
"I was asking how it determines who is an enemy of the Giants. Any who steals from here, won't be able to leave the elevator on the way down."
Ra'sakar glares at the gnome, not appreciating the humour of gnomekind. He then turns back to the lift, once again speaking in giant.
"Lift, we come here seeking an artefact put here by the Sulatar drow, that they stole from the people of a far off land from across the ocean. I don't suppose you would recognise the name Ghallandra?"

"No friend," he says looking again at the spoon, "Just merely my own silliness." Stribog told Aukan of the spoon and the cold air that came when he almost put it in his bag. "I am not use to being in such a different land and I merely forgot we where in a dangerous place and not some random kitchen."

"Looking at those boxes over there, I'd say this floor has already been looted. No harm in looking around though."
Ra'sakar will follow around and halfheartedly attempt to spot it.
