Azi's eyes open quite wide at Kraithee's words. "Uh umm... yes... yes I will do that" Azi quickly stands up and bows his head as he speaks. "Thank you for... the kind... advice, sir" he stutters out. Looking up his eyes spell wonder and amazement as he looks upon the aetherborn. He smiles and then moves his mat to a corner and resumes his meditation, taking Kraithee's advice.
Lero shares the helm with Captain Manfield, taking turns piloting the ship as the other rests. It was agreed that he would have first watch. He's found that piloting the vessel through the skies is more relaxing than any other activity he's had the pleasure of doing. There's a sort of zen to the process as the ship flows through the aether-filled sky. Lero has spent years learning to predict the flow, and riding the aether has always been the quickest way to travel.
He pulls his navigator's tools from the pack strapped next to the seat and checks the position of the horizon in accordance to the moons and the time of day. Afterwards he adjusts the course as needed. This is the part of sailing the skies that Lero lives for. The action and random events are icing on the Ghirapur moon-pie, but the sailing is the moon-pie itself. The sweet base of that icing. He sits back and relaxes, watching the aether flow past.
Maybe a group of skywhales will come about.
At the very least he hopes the Renegades are spending this time soaking up the relaxation - This might just be the calm before the storm.
After being on the bow of the ship Duncan made his way to the make-shift quarters. He finds himself a nice corner and sits meditating while waiting. Hearing Azi's request Duncan went back up to the group. trying to stay out of everyones way and not to be noticed. Yet as he made his way up the stairs he slammed each foot down making a loud thud and when on deck he seemed to always end up in somebodies way.

"I'd prefer to stay somewhere with a view, so can I join you in the helm? I have a project I'm working on, and I don't want that elf anywhere near it with her fidgeting."
In the helm, Flux pulls out some components, and starts to fit them together and make some adjustments. He looks through the lenses, trying to judge if the desired effect is occurring, but clearly unable to tell. He looks over to Lero, and holds out the Goggles of Night he has finished constructing.
"Lero, would you mind trying these goggles on? They are supposed to aid sight for those renegades who cannot see in the dark, but since I can, I cannot tell if they are working."
Once Lero takes the goggles, Flux takes out a book and studies it. Any who looked at it would be unable to read it, but Flux has deciphered the Abyssal in which it is written. He thinks back to his real reason for coming on this trip - one of the ingredients for a project he was working towards could only be found at the "heart of Peema".

Lero waves Flux in, "Feel free to join me." He gestures to one of the chairs.
"I've always been more of a look-you-in-the-eye type of guy myself," Lero says as he accepts the goggles. "They're supposed to help me see in the dark, huh?" He flips a switch and pulls a small lever on the control panel and a *Clank* *Clank* *Clank* is heard as metal plates slide down the windows of the control room and the room is left pitch-black. He straps the goggles on.
"By the aether, this is great!" He says, moving his hands in front of his face. He looks around the control room briefly with the goggles on before stating, "Do you have any idea the possibilities these would open up for me? I could ditch my rusty old lantern and never look back! I could pinch an ass in the darkness and no one would be the wiser! I could..." The Aethership shudders.
"Shit..." Lero flips the switch once more and pushes the lever up and the armor plating raises. The Rising Aether has drifted off-course slightly and Lero goes to correct it, making sure the engines line up in the aether-trails just right. He sighs and pulls the goggles off, "These seem to work perfectly, Flux. An amazing work of art." He hands them back.
When Elto hears of Bauma's expertise, he gets very excited. Which is very easily noticeable, becomes the inner mechanics of his body begin to glow with the bright blue light of aether. "You work with weapons?! This is very exciting, Bauma. I have something to show you, and I want you to look over it." He towards the back of the ship, and into the aether-engine room. "Quickly, shut the door. There's a 67 percent chance Dahlun would mess up my creation if he found it." Closing the door behind you, Elto does a little dance of excitement as he unfastens a few loose boards of wood, revealing a hidden compartment underneath the floor. He pulls out a massive sword, colloquially known as a greatsword. The blade is made from gleaming iron, with the hilt, and pommel intricately crafted with spiraling pieces of gold, reinforced by an iron underframe. The sword has only one edge, as the backside has tiny engines along the edge, fixed on swivel points. As Elto begins slashing with the sword in the air, you see the engines glow and emit little bursts of energy, propelling is his blade quickly as he strikes with it. "Arial thinks I just work on the aether engine all day. It doesn't require much maintenance. I've been working on and improving this instead. I calculate she wouldn't approve. Because she hasn't asked, I don't need to tell her! What do you think of it? Not only do the tiny aethengines, as I like to call them, help propel the blade forward, they also make the weapon very finessable. But not only that. If I plug it into my aether source, I can fire blasts of pure aether at a fair distance! I only try that part out at night though, when they're all asleep. My calculations give me belief that Arial would scrap me over this. I think."
After a few hours of hating yourself, Azi, you are able to suppress the nausea and move aboard the Rising Aether without any issue.
"No, no, you keep it for now. I've no need of it, and I can't mass produce it out here. Even if I could, then I already have the formula for it."
Flux barely looks up from their book, having difficulty with a word they hadn't seen before. They suspect that Lero wouldn't think that his smile is noticed by Flux, but it is.
Buama watches the little engines move as he swings the sword noting how the aether flows through them. It appears they help propel the sword fairly well allowing far more finesse with such a large blade than could ever occur even from the best smithing. The little engines seem to pause to adjust to the sword direction change longer than would be efficient.
"Swing it a few more times." As Elto obliges, she watches one engine at a time. "Hold it still."
"Oh, I see what is going on. If you tweak this," she points to one of the little engines, "So it spins faster about..." She pauses and looks like she is doing a calculation in her head and counting on her fingers. "Try increasing it by only three percent. I think it is causing a hiccup in the lineup and there is a delay for them adjusting to the direction change of the blade. More so when you pull it back than swing for the hit." She purses her lips and then nods with a smile. "Try that first and see if it swings better."
She watches Elto as she feels the ship veer slightly. She looks towards the door as if she could see all the way to the bridge through it. The pilot was not fully paying attention, but reacted fast. She smirks and looks back to Elto again.

Lero nods and a grin spreads across his face. It's fine that the aetherborn doesn't see it, being enamored in their tomb, because it's a sincere smile and only a few people in Lero's life have ever seen it. "Well then... now I feel like I owe ya something."
He reaches into the bag next to him and pulls out three aether-vials. "We get a lot of these coming through the ship so I usually take a few for myself. Here; they're yours." He hands them over to Flux without a doubt in his mind that they'll be able to make better use of them than he would. "Now lets say we call this even," Lero says as he fits the goggles on his head. He lowers one section, looking through it with one eye and squinting with the other. "These are magnificent," he murmurs.
The lifecraft comes to life as he makes the minor adjustment and begins swinging the sword again. "Such a minor calculation, and such a huge improvement. Brauma, you are as intelligent as Vedalken come. I calculate a very high percentage we will become friends. Not on the level me and Lero or Arial are friends. But friends." He clasps her firmly on the back, causing her back to crack in several locations.
Hours pass as the day's journey passes by fairly uneventful. The back-up crew for the site settles in, but mostly seems to keep to themselves, and out of the way of the Rising Aether's crew.
"Why, thank you. These vials will help me make great progress on one of the projects I have planned."
Flux still doesn't look up as they grab the vials and puts them in their alchemy satchel. When they later look for Elto, to discuss the nature of his sentience, they note that he can be found with the Vedalken, Buama. Good, they thought, I was hoping to speak to both of them on this journey.
"Hello, you two. I've been meaning to talk with you during this journey."

While the lifecraft doesn't show it, he felt fear as the aetherborn opened the door, having just hid his precious masterpiece in the floor beneath. "You have been meaning to talk to me? What do you require assistance in? If it's about feeling sick, my anatomy is fundamentally different than yours, and you are not wise for coming to me like your friend. If it's about aether now..."
"It is about the nature of your being. Calm down by the way. Your fear is rather overwhelming my senses. I was wondering if I may study your physical form so that I may know how a lifecraft gained sentience. It is rather fascinating, and I was wondering if I may learn how it was managed. While I'm not entirely sure I'd be able to replicate the feat, and I'm not sure I want to, given the social issues involved, the mystery is driving me mad."
To Buama, in Vedalken, they ask what is going on that has generated so much fear from Elto. They are rummaging around in their satchel with one hand, and still has their book in the other, only looking over it briefly to speak, relying on their ability to sense emotions to gauge the truth of the feelings behind the responses they wait for.
"Surely you are also intrigued by this? He was full of fear before I asked - would you know the cause?"

As Captain Manfield comes in to relieve Lero of his post, he poses nonchalantly and pretends he's asleep. When she enters he yawns and stretches, "Is it that time already? Oh no, lookit me. I musta fallen asleep on my post." He gives her a lil grin as he stands up and says, "She's all yours, Captain. Purring like a longtusk." He unstraps his bag from the seat and puts it on his back. "Don't do anything I wouldn't do," he winks and heads to his quarters downstairs.
On his way down he notices Elto's door ajar, "Hey Elto! Keep that door closed will ya, us fleshies are trying to sleep down here!"
In his room he pops on his goggles and closes the door. Everything is so clear... so visible.
Buama grins because she was able to help Elto with his project. She was not sure how long they had worked with adjusting the little servo and testing it, but satisfied, Elto put it away for the time being.
She jumps a bit as the door opens not expecting anyone, but thankfully the sword was put away. She looks between the two noting Elto has some issues relating to Flux. The forwardness of wanting to handle all curiosities without thought to emotions despite wanting to know them could rub a person the wrong way, even Elto it seemed. He was not the first of his kind she had dealt with like this, but she was not sure Elto had to deal with them often. Elto had a fully working sentient being with his own personality. It delighted her, that she had made happy finding an adjustment on his sword. She did love helping people learn and improve things she understood.
She arches a brow at him, gives Elto a wait-a-minute look, and says in common, "Knock next time before coming in a closed door. It is startling when that happens, especially in a good discussion of algorithms of servo engine power usage and how multiples can work with or against each other based on how they are attuned."

At this point Azi has centered himself and has been accustomed to the air ship. He will stand up and head to the upper deck. Noting that it has been a few hours, he will finally do some rounds aboard the ship to get the layout. Once again takes in the vast expanse that is the view off the side of the ship, but remember Lero's warning about predators he doesn't stay at the side for long.
He will stop in to see exactly what this "helm" is, not trying to raise attention he merely pokes his head in and takes a look around. The machinery is all foreign to him, so he's not quite sure what it is he's looking at. Muttering under his breath, "They all have such strange uses for the aether. Seems a bit over the top, though I guess the perversions have given us the power to fly."
Assuming no one stops him, he will head back out to the bow of the ship, and will sit down to meditate. Still noting the warning of predators, he will take out a cover an attempt to blend into his surroundings a bit and lower his presence. He will attempt to see what sort of dangers exists up here so high.
"I did knock. I suppose you didn't hear, but I thought I heard you say yes. Evidently, it was said in conversation. You both seemed quite excited when I walked up to the door. I note that you now feel a little annoyed though. Perhaps because I was rather direct with my intentions? He asked, so I told him. I was planning on getting to know Elto as a person before getting to know them as a machine. I'm not a fool, and I'm aware that emotions might mean that it takes a while before I get a chance to study him, if I am permitted to do so. Elto is free to decide whether I may study him. Servo engines? That is something I've been studying on the side recently. If you are proficient in the topic, I'd love some advice on getting my device to work."
As they mention their device, they pull a half-completed servo out of their satchel, the engines clearly incomplete.

By this time, the sun has begun to set beneath the mountain range. Arial laughs, and responds in a taunting manner. "Don't make me tie you down onto the tip of the bow spirit and see how close I can get to some mountains ....Again." Assuming control, she takes it on a nice cruise. Just before Lero leaves, she shouts out, "Can you grab one of the deckhands? We need to collect some aether, and it looks like we've got a good stream ahead of us."
As if a mutual prayer by Azi and Duncan was answered, as one meditates and the other scans the skies, an earth-shaking sound rends the sky. The ground below had been concealed by clouds for quite sometime, due to the elevation the Rising Aether had risen to. Bursting out of the clouds, an unfathomably large beast ascends about sixty kilometers away from the Rising Aether, coming from beneath the thick cloud coverage. Glowing streams of aether seems to run down the entire length of its body, a length easily 100 kilometers long. It soared into the sky, aiming straight for the stream of aether Arial was turning towards.
As if another prayer was heard by Elto, the roar shook the room the three of them were currently in. Relieved (Passive Deception of 10), Elto speaks up, "I calculate there is a 97% chance there is something outside that requires our immediate attention." He quickly makes his way past the aetherborn and vedalken, and heads up the ladder to the deck. "I suggest you should go on deck too. The chances of you dying are equal up there or down here, given the volume of that noise."
Seeing the beast, Duncan is again in awe by the size of how small he is. That said he places one hand on his sword hilt and the other on the handrail to secure himself in case something were to happen. "What is that thing?" He says to no one in particular.

Since being on his own, Duncan has accidentally, bummed, pushed, shoved, made a fool, stepped on or has been stepped on. During his time trying to stay out of everyone's way. Finally he makes his way to the bow again. Seeing Azi up on the bo Duncan decides to stay near but far enough that he is not disturbing him. Instead he will focus on the sky and taking in the view until food has been prepared.
By this time, the sun has begun to set beneath the mountain range. Arial laughs, and responds in a taunting manner. "Don't make me tie you down onto the tip of the bow spirit and see how close I can get to some mountains .... Again." Assuming control, she takes it on a nice cruise.
