The night that the beast appeared: "I'll stay up here too. I've always wanted to study this type of beast, and I can help keep watch overnight." As the rest of the passengers of the ship went below decks, Flux stayed, reaching for a rope to tie around their waist. They would not miss this opportunity for the world, staying up all night to study the beast, and, hopefully, get close enough to sense its emotions - just to know what sorts of emotions they were capable of, and if they left the beast far behind, then there was that book to continue studying for the rest of the night.
The next morning: As the rest of the crew sits down for the meal, Flux stands, and looks at the variety of food on offer, then sits down, not picking anything up. "The food looks marvellous. I can only assume that it tastes as good as it looks and smells..." Instead, Flux enjoys the emotions of the crew, all enjoying the (presumably) delicious food. "In regards to what happens when we get close, I think it is wise that we don't fly straight over the area - I've heard that the consulate has an inventor who has invented a device built for taking aircraft out of the air, which involves launching explosives at the aircraft, and if the consulate has taken the area, I think it would be prudent to avoid the risks of them having installed such a device there. This is a nice ship after all."

((this is said to flux after she stands up and before Lero can ask her another question about elto.))
"I've heard of that, but I think his accuracy is still low past two kilometers. He could improve it two fold if he broke consulate aether rules by a low and safe margin." Well, she is not sure of that, but it wasn't long ago she was in a Consulate college and then got discredited, so saw at least seen some of their stuff from two years prior to now. Renegades all the way because now she could make things that worked better because she could break the rules. Actually, not have the rules other than staying in a safety range, not fixed aether range. She hoped her notes of how to do things that they probably had copies of did not wind up a reality or she would find ways to prove they broke their rules so it blew up in their face.
Namura eagerly dug into the breakfast with her fingers, tearing off large chunks of her meat with her teeth. Her utensils lay conspicuously unused on the table. She always ate voraciously, as she had grown up not knowing when her next meal would be. The elf listened as the others spoke, waiting until she had licked her plate clean before she added her own two copper in.
"I can lead us through the woods," she finally piped up. "Rations and finding the way won't be an issue. I know Peema." The ranger knew exactly why she had been sent on this mission. "There's no need to risk your precious ship."
Eventually people left, but yet again, the elf was among the last to leave. She had to take advantage of this glorious spread as much as possible. Namura scanned the table for another piece of fruit, but instead her eyes locked on one of the Aetherborn in her crew. "Hey, Flux," she caught his attention, also finding the scarlet fruit she had been looking for. The elf plucked it from the table and took a large bite out, momentarily sidetracked. "You're an inventor-y type, yeah? I was wondering if you would be willing to help me." Namura took another bite, before adding an incentive quickly. "Oh! And in return for making me an item, I'll promise to not touch anything of yours for the rest of the mission."
As time goes on, several members of the crew begin finishing their meals and heading back down below the deck. Looking out from the helm of the ship, you look out, and see that you've reached the outskirts of Peema, passing through the opening between two mountains. The forest is vast, appearing more like a green sea. Trees, as thick as the Consulate headquarters itself, and dwarfing any buildings known in Ghirapur, rise above the sea of smaller trees. The sight is both majestic, and intimidating.
Captain Arial comes out of the control room, meeting Lero and Bauma at the top of the ladder. Seeing the two together makes her laugh. "He sticks quickly to people. Lero, I've got Ahlrim on controls. We'll be arriving at the site in a few hours, but we'll land a few kilometers out and discuss our plan of approach. Now, if you'd excuse me, my bed is calling to me." Moving past the pair, she opens the door to her chambers and quickly closes it. You feel the ship begin to descend as you head down the ladder to below the deck. As you approach the door to the aether engine, you can hear the faint sound of scratching coming from the other side. Curious, you open the door, and see Elto on the ground, fighting off two gremlins. He is hurt, badly, as they claw at him, trying to get to the aether within. Four more gremlins have torn open the aether reserve in the engine, and are sucking out the aether within the aether engine with their long snouts. They look up and hiss, but are too busy enjoying the aether within too do anything else.
"I'd be happy to help you out Namura. What is it you need help with? I'll certainly take you up on the offer - my concoctions have the potential to cause lots of damage to the area surrounding them."
Flux gets up from his spot at the far end of the table from Namura and is about to take up a seat next to her, previously occupied by a crewmember, though waits for her permission to sit there.

Upon seeing Elto being torn apart and the engine on the verge of complete power failure, Lero immediately turns and begins sprinting towards the control room. "BRACE FOR IMPACT!!" He yells as he passes the hatch, "Gremlins in the engine room!" He slams through the control room door and forces Ahlrim off the controls. He doesn't forget to strap himself in and yells at Ahlrim to do the same. His focus is now completely on the safe decent and landing of the Rising Aether. As he begins the 'controlled' decent, he watches the landscape looking for a large river or lake.
"Gremlins? Damn. We'll talk about this later. It sounds like we may have to fight to keep the ship in the air."
Flux rushes out of the room towards the engine room, rummaging in their satchel as they go. As they arrive and see the state of Elto, they pull out a quickly made draught designed to restore the health of Elto. They stand next to Elto, placing Elto between them and the nearest gremlin, and passes him the draught. They then draw a dagger, ready to defend them-self.

Hearing Lero's shouts, Azi will jump up out of his seat, grab his staff, and knock an apple off the table with a quick kick before stuffing it in his face and dashing off towards the excitement.
dashing with an in human speed towards the danger he will likely arrive a split second before the rest. "What in the name of Ghirapur? Gremlins in a place like this, how have they had the patience to hide so long?" Taking another quick bite of the apple he will set himself up in front of the door assuming a defensive stance, with a low crouch, arm extended, and the staff in his other arm running along the back of his shoulders in a fluid striking position.

OOC: azi will try and be up front. Ready to attack.
Buama, being right there with Lero as they opened the door lets out a shrill sounding yell of rage at seeing Elto on the floor. She is nearly bowled over as Lero runs for the control room and Flux runs in to heal Elto with Azi on his heals. She immediately casts Shield of Faith on Elto to give him further armor protection hoping it helps stop the gremlins from being able to claw him apart as fast.
She then pulls out daggers because the last thing she wants to do is use her thunder cannon, carefully stored with her things, in a tight space with aether. That would mean bye-bye to everything in the blink of an eye. She slips in toward Elto and hopes Flux can get him on his feet, she is ready with daggers to hit one of the gremlins on him. Her main goal is to make sure Elto can get up and then see if the sword can be pulled out.
((Meta: After this initial get there and first reaction phase, Buama's initiative is a 12, though our illustrious DM just told us not to worry about initiative LOL))

Namura stood up with a smile, happy Flux was willing to help her. She decided they were currently her favorite Aetherborn onboard the ship. "Alright," she began, a rare smile spreading across her face. She had an idea while she was trancing, and she wanted to see if the Artificer could help her bring it to fruition. "So you see, last night I was sitting on top of the sails when the giant thing came and scared me. I fell, and bruised my shoulder a little. I'd like to try and make that not hap-"
"BRACE FOR IMPACT," a voice interrupted her, coming from below. "Gremlins in the control room!"
"Gremlins? Damn. We'll talk about this later. It sounds like we may have to fight to keep the ship in the air," Flux mirrored her own thoughts, as Namura leapt from the table and drew her double short-swords in one movement with a similar idea.
"Do you know where the engine room is?" The ranger asked hurriedly, already taking off towards what sounded like Lero's voice. While she wasn't in the woods (yet), Namura liked to think she could at least track him.
Of course, it didn't hurt that there were a few more people at the table who seemed like they knew where they were going.
When they arrived at the engine room, Namura paid absolutely no attention to the whirring, intricate machinery. She had tunnel vision, with her eyes on her prey. The ranger cast Hunter's Mark on one of the gremlins (G3) before running up to it to hit it with both short-swords.
The crafty bugger ducked under her sword, and Namura began to growl at the blasted thing.
Assessing the enemies, Duncan's body began to shimmer as a metallic like substance covered his whole body. Seeing that Azi was attacking the one in the corner, Duncan got next to the gremlin in front of Azi (g2) and attacked. With the ship being unsteady and Duncan not use to fighting in the sky swung his sword wide of it's mark.

OOC: The players believe that this was a purposeful sabotage, for how could six gremlins board a flying ship? The events of the morning are thus:
0410: Arial summons Lennir (the second redshirt) to get breakfast prepared in their magical kitchen. Several servos assist him in the process.
0540: Lennir finishes preparing breakfast, has it all set up with the aide of Benjin (the third redshirt), and is then subsequently yelled at by Arial to get everyone up.
0600: By the time the first party member arrives on deck, Elto, Dahlun, Benjin, Lennin, and two of the darksite back-up crew (Asonea and Ahtwon) are already up top.
0610: All of the party members, excluding Kraithee (I just realized he still hasn't posted since the breakfast post), are up top eating breakfast. Three more of the darksite back-up crew have joined for breakfast (Jurthree, Yahlfourn, and Fiveani)
0630: Everyone remaining (Alhrim, Assixin, and Losevena) is up top, eating breakfast. Alhrim arrived last.
0720: Most of the darksite crew has left at this point (only Azsixin and Ahtwon are up top), and Elto, Alhrim, and Lennin have left (Lennin excused himself, first, to go start cleaning dishes, and Elto last, at 0720)
07:24: Lero and Bauma head downstairs, crossing paths with Arial at the top of the hatch leading to below. The remaining party members are still on deck, enjoying the sun, breakfast, and spiced coffee.
Hearing all the noise and commotion of its companions, Kraithee decides to follow them to the engine room, and hearing the screams of Gremlins in the engine room, an almost smile escapes its mouth. Of course there are Gremlins in the engine room...we need to know who is responsible for searching the ship prior to its departure; they didn't board the ship during the trip I would guess.
Seeing that the room is already cramped and the Gremlins are trying to sabotage the engine, Kraithee positions itself just inside of the room and extends its hands to the far corner of the room: blowing a little bit of sand that it got from one of it's pouches Kraithee starts reciting a spell: Little critters it is night, master Morpheus is by, time to close thy eyes.
Sleep cast as a 2nd level spell at the far corner (northeast) of the room, covering G's 3, 4, 5 and 6 and Numera.
Furious at the interlopers denying them their precious aether, the gremlins enrage, attacking those nearest to them.
Elto, with the help of Bauma, is able to get up off the floor. "I am angry." He smashes through the floor board beneath, pulling out his aether-infused greatsword. "Don't tell Arial I have this. She'll throw me overboard." A loose cable finds its way into an outlet on him arm, as you see aether visibly surging from his body into the blade. The aethengines kick into gear, and in a fluid motion Elto heaves his sword in an arc, cutting into G1 and chopping it in half. He swings the sword back in a half circle, before twisting the blade and jabbing at G2. He wasn't adjusted yet to the new calculations he and Buama had made, and just misses G2.
Her primary target at least temporarily asleep, Namura took advantage of the temporary incapacitation for a little decapitation. With a single swoop of her short sword, she took the head of the gremlin clean off. (30 damage to G3.)
She pointed her shortsword at another gremlin and shifter her mark on to it (G6.) "You're next," she growled at it.
As the last of the draught in the bottle Flux was holding for Elto is drained, they quickly return it to their satchel for later use and the dagger in their other hand is quickly put to work. However, due to the possibility of the Gremlin deciding that an aetherborn is a tastier snack than a lifecraft, their strike falls rather short, as they try to stay away from the gremlin.
Buama quickly notes that the gremlins had a third of their numbers killed and a couple sleeping. She defensively slides in so the remaining gremlin in front of Elto and Flux cannot reach Flux since Elto seemed quite capable with his sword despite the backswing deficiency. She stabs at the Gremlin with the dagger of her primary hand. She flubs up worse with her swing than Flux had appeared to. She growls at the gremlin like that could scare it into surrender.
