Backstory: Ghaldrak was a wandering individual, he enjoyed living in the woods and using his own keen survival skills. He would hunt for his meals and create makeshift shelters to hide himself from any who may wish to harm him. It was not always this way for Ghaldrak, he used to live in a small house with his parents and several siblings. His parents would work long hours bringing back only enough to keep everyone in the family sustained, so Ghaldrak decided to leave home to ease his parents' burden. On one of his routine trips he came across a village called Tumberlyn and came to enjoy the location. He decided to work for wage and started as a fisherman, but he was terrible at it and it would throw him into fits of rage when the line would break or get caught on a snag. He moved on to become a carpenter and would assist in the construction of docks, canoes, and small houses. Despite his love of the job, he still feels there may be more out there.
I used a base of 12 for each stat, but I will adjust it if it's only supposed to be a base 10 (60 points)
FIXED: Base 8, 15 points spent, 7 in CON, 4 in STR, 2 in DEX, 2 in WIS. +2 STR and +1 CHA for dragonborn.
I thought your walking speed would be half of your movement speed. I just assumed when you're in combat, you're running to get where you want to get, and if you took the dash action you're going in a full burst sprint

Point Buy is a Base of 8, you can only buy up to 15 (before racial adjustment), and 14 and 15 cost 2 points each to get from the score below (So a 14 costs 7 points overall, and a 15 costs 9).
Also, Gorshina, Aarakocra Rangers are fun (I'm playing one refluffed as a dragonborn in Stormphrax Rising)

And now, backstory:
Magnus was born to a poor baker and his wife, who had prayed to the gods for a child. The agreement was thus: the child would be part of a greater destiny, set in motion by the gods, and he would seek it out when the time came. Well, seeing as how he came in touch with the Mighty Phoenix itself, he was blessed with great power. Very destructive power. There may have been a baking accident in which both his parents were killed, along with the entirety of his village. Having learned the extent of his powers, Magnus fled deep into the countryside, training himself in the ways of his newfound abilities. He soon learned how to use his flames to incinerate his prey, and how to manipulate nonmagical flame. Along with his flames, he found he could modify the spell into one that froze his targets. As his powers increased, he made a bit more of a mark on the land, and soon, he had visitors.
The first person to find him was a woodcutter, who quickly learned to stay away from the strange man with fiery hands. The second and third were two guards, sent by the woodcutter to talk to the strange flaming man. They, too, learned to leave him alone. The fourth was a young cleric of Mystra, who had been sent on a vision quest to locate Magnus. She did not learn to stay away. It was she who managed to bring Magnus back to civilization. Magnus served as the cleric's sort of bodyguard. His unpredictable and fluid magic, though rudimentary, proved useful in dispatching lowlifes who would try and desecrate the young woman.
After serving as the cleric's muscle for a few months, they came into contact with a merchant, who supplied the temples with various offerings and donations. The man was charming, certainly, but he was a little, shall we say, upset at the way his transactions were going. The cleric and Magnus were dispatched to talk negotiations with the man, with only one order: Give nothing more than we have been.
The merchant man was not pleased to find that he wouldn't be receiving more money for his services. He was, however, a master of deception. He cordially led the two to his private chambers, liberally distributed his finest wines, and murdered the cleric girl. Magnus was drunk out of his senses, and when he awoke, he found himself being carried off in a body bag by two of the merchant's own mercenary assistants. It was then he made his first proper kill. Drawing the daggers he kept hidden in his boots, he slit open the bag and tumbled out into the street. The mercs were caught by surprise, and found themselves very much dead. A dagger in each of their necks, they toppled to the ground. By the time Magnus reached the merchant's quarters in the city, he was too late; the man had left.
For the next two years, Magnus scoured all of the Forgotten Realms, taking on bounties for small-time criminals, and occassionally, underground cults that threatened the general religion. He finally cornered his quarry, but let him slip through his fingers once more. Magnus continues his search, but has felt a higher calling. He is drawn to this odd band, ready to fight with them, eager to make allies. His powers of diplomacy and general experience hunting down criminals should aid him well in the quest to come.

1. no. Same speed as walking.
2. Unless you're going up, it's good for cheating difficult terrain and climbing disadvantage.

Walking speed is movement speed (land)
Flying is air, burrow through rock, swim through water.
Incorporeal through anything
