Character Name: Artos Krit Character Race: Fire Genasi
Character Backstory: Artos comes from a genasi tribe traveling around the desert and survive through commerce. Fire genasi are renown for their temper but that time Artos exaggerate a bit. He ruined a crucial trade for his family and the whole tribe, marked with dishonor and forced to leave the tribe and to find a way to control his hot mind..
This was actually pretty good for your first sheet! It's not confirmed you're approved yet, as we're still getting applications, but here's a few things:
Racial Traits.Move all of your Rock Gnome racial traits to your Race. This includes any racial ability score improvements, your speed, languages, and anything else your race gives you that aren't features (ex. Breath Weapon). Features go under your sheet.
Rogue Effects and Proficiencies.Move all of your Rogue effects and proficiencies to your Rogue.
Disable Spells. You can disable your Spells tab by clicking on the three horizontal dots in the far right-hand corner, then click Hide Spells.
"Ring of Seeing" Is Not A Uncommon Item. Your gem of seeing, written as ring of seeing, is a rare magic item, not uncommon.
Elvish, not "Elfish." Unless you invented a new secret language, I believe it's spelled "Elvish".
Remove Blank Note in Journal Tab. You have a blank note in your Journal tab that you can delete.
Missing Background Equipment, Skills, and Feature. You seem to be missing the equipment from your background. I know for certain guild artisans have letters of some kind, and it's devoid from your inventory. You're also missing two skills (4 from Rogue, 2 from Background), and your Background Feature which can be in your Persona or your Features Tab.
Missing Class Features. You're also missing all your class features such as Expertise and Sneak Attack. Don't want to forget those!
Move Speed to Race, then set Base Value instead of Max. You placed your Speed in the wrong place, and you set it to Max, so your speed on the front of your sheet says 0 instead of 25.
Once you went through all those, poke me again here and I'll go through it! If you'd like an example of a Rogue 1 character sheet, you can check out mine here: https://dicecloud.com/character/ic7aemR5CcjffmHhb
Ignore the Spells tab of my example. Those are there for use of a Discord dice rolling bot, and not necessary for you. Your attacks will be on your weapons that will appear when you drop them in the Equipment box.
Good job on your first attempt though! You did a heck of a lot better than I did when I made my first!
Artos sounds like an awesome character to interact with. He sounds like someone who would be dealing with a lot of emotional and mental strife, so it'll be interesting to see how that would play in when socializing with other players and NPCs.
Yeah, I haven't heard great things about the Mystic personally, as my Discord server disallows it from play for poor mechanics. We can definitely talk if you still wish to play though! Your choice of class won't have any effect on whether or not you get in.
I'll be checking back on this when we accept people, thanks again!

Yeah abs not mandatory. I can switch to a wizard who force himself to keep focused on the art, or a sort of melee
Yeah abs not mandatory. I can switch to a wizard who force himself to keep focused on the art, or a sort of melee
That would definitely help out a ton, thanks! I'd suggest picking up lots of spells with concentration and then flavor it as maintained focus. Bard, Wizard, and Sorcerer are probably really good candidates for it. If you're accepted, the plethora of UAs would also likely help.
Activity: Very Frequent, a job searcher who has a lot of time on his hands. May be infrequent at times if something comes up - but it should not be a huge problem.
About Myself: I am a pretty laid back and casual guy, making light jests and jokes here and there. I am by no means a clown, when needed I will shut my mouth to not say something inappropriate. I live in Sweden, so my timzone is a bit awkward at times, but I manage pretty well I'd say. Played Fifth edition for quite some time as well as a lot of other roleplaying games, both in video games and the pen & paper variety. A very social guy overall I'd say, enjoy a solid tactical combat encounter as well as just sometimes deciding to throw caution to the wind and trying to fit in with a gang of zombies by doing the Thriller zombie dance.
Character Name: Lars Amblecrown Character Race: Human Variant
Character Backstory: Hailing from a long line of warriors, bounty hunters, mercenaries, guards and more - Lars' Family, the Amblecrowns, was a massive one. He had more sisters and brothers than he could count, more cousins than one normally should have - and far too many relatives who were so thin in terms of being bound by blood, that they may not as well be related at all. His father at the head of the family, his sisters and brothers heading out to the world to make their mark on history and bring glory to the Amblecrown name, Lars did the one thing he did best: his duty and serve. Rise above the ranks from a simple guard to higher and higher, eventually he was promoted at a very young age to be the protector and the personal guard to a noble man's daughter: Lady Ashe von Einvald. The two grew close - very close. Keeping their relationship hidden - the two made sure of meeting in secret only and nothing else. Yet one day it all went south... when Lars' father was murdered by one of his own bitter rivals. And so Lars' mind was set - he promised Ashe that he would return to her, that he would seek out the murderer of his father and come back to her, when he had proved his worth to her, her father and to his family. And now he wanders, his father's sword at his hip with his goal laid out before him. Revenge, retribution - and a tale of justice, is the tale he sees before him. If the weave of fate lets him, is another matter entirely.
Thank you for all the positive feed back! Many of the things you addressed, we're questions I actually had, so that was perfect. I will be pretty busy over the next two days but will get it revised by Monday at least.

No problem, happy to help! Don't worry about the time, there's no real rush to start early. However, it's likely that we will start soon, as we have enough people to get going for this.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaay! I finally get to play in an active D&D game!
Many things about your application really appealed to me and why I thought you'd be right for this group. One of the best things is definitely your honesty, especially about your potential activity in the future. To be honest, I am a tad worried since real life should always always ALWAYS come first, and if things come up in your schedule it might be hard for you to make a post every day.
With you being an employee, father, and student though, I'm sure you know your capabilities very well and would be able to manage your time to make it. In addition, that honesty that you mentioned earlier would be absolutely amazing to see in the future, as you'd be able to communicate with me easily when you're available and when your posts will be more staggered.
I do want to stress again to you and everyone playing that real life is more important than making a daily post. Please, please do your best to let us know how you're doing though so we can make accommodations.
Many of the same reasons Chai was approved apply here as well. I'm really glad you mentioned that you'll warn in advance if you'll be inactive. It would be ridiculous and rather cruel of me to ask for once a day for however long without any flexibility, and I want to be the best GM I can to you guys and make this as FUN as possible instead of being tedious or stressful. Having prior experience in 5th Edition definitely helps, but is not mandatory, as I'd be just as happy to take on a newbie and introduce them to the game.
Your backstory was pretty good, although I would've liked to see more detail put into it! I wanted to learn more about the fire gensai in his community, how they acted and what are normal things they'd do and what he did! I wanted to learn some of the events leading up to it, the people involved in his life, any bonds or siblings or even love interests that he had to pack up and leave behind. You had an incredible start but ya left me wanting so much more! Although, if you wanted to keep the majority of your background a secret, I suppose you didn't have a bad solution.
We also had that conversation about the Mystic and you were extremely friendly and flexible about what you wanted to play. Flexibility for me is one of the most attractive aspects of a player for me, because it just makes the game run SO SMOOTH since everyone's willing to adapt and adjust to each others' differences. It just makes the game run so much better instead of arguing all the time.
Several things really stood out to me in your application and why I gave you the last spot for this game. First of all, seeing that you'd be very frequent was a definite plus in your favor. The more people we pull onto this campaign who can be consistently active, the faster and the more fun this will be. Many play-by-post games are rather slow and over the course of weeks for minor objectives completed. I hope this one can be just a tad faster than that. Quality should always be first in this format I feel like, since there's so much time to develop and write and think about your post. But if we combine quality and activity, hopefully we can find a healthy balance in the middle.
Your description of being both laid back and casual and tactical and strategic at other times also fits this campaign perfectly. It's by no means meant to be a super hardcore nitty gritty fight, but it's definitely meant to challenge you in ways you might not have expected. Having a lot of experience in tabletopping will also make this go by a ton smoother, but of course, not necessary at all as I'm happy to introduce new people to the hobby. And of course, we could always use more social, happy people to the party.
Probably the strongest part of your application was your character backstory. We've known each other for quite a long time, and I keep telling you this, but you are AMAZING at lore. Not just lore, but world-building, large-scale lore, and it definitely shows here. I can't tell you of all the creative possibilities I can do with your backstory, from your huge family of warriors to your trademark name to the noble and his daughter to the murderer. Your experience in tabletopping definitely shows from all the fun, interesting ways I can play with your background, not to mention just being an awesome background in itself.
So congrats you three, you're all approved to build characters!
I didn't expect to have the party together so quickly! It appears that most people seem to be ready, so I'll be writing up a post with the timeline of our important dates. I can say that we'd likely start early next week.
I'd like to play if you're still recruiting! Willing to edit any details if it fits the plot/setting better.
Activity: Busy schedule, should be able to post at least once a day, possibly more on weekdays.
About Myself: Full time employee, longtime RPG player in video games but just starting to get into D&D. I love D&D podcasts, especially The Adventure Zone and Godsfall.
Character Name: Iyala Dunwood Character Race: Variant Human
Character Backstory:
Iyala grew up in the small village of Greycliff in a remote valley, daughter of the local woodworker. Every month, she and her father would climb the steep valley walls to reach the high forests known for producing the strong, beautiful woods that became the best furniture, tools, and delicate carvings. The climb was treacherous, but the villagers of Greycliff knew their paths well, and easily found their way to forests, grazing lands, and the other resources their home provided.
One spring, her village discovered that particularly heavy rains were destabilizing the cliff paths that her village relied on, and although they sent a plea for help to the local lord for assistance, they were ignored. Despite their best efforts, eventually the entire hillside collapsed in a massive landslide. Horrified, Iyala ran from her home to find hundreds of villagers trapped, injured, or killed by the disaster. Stumbling over the uneven ground, she managed to find her father, half pinned beneath the rubble and almost dead.
Half sobbing, she called out to Mishakal, goddess of healing, praying for her to heal her father. She was shocked from her tears when her hands began to glow, and she felt divine magic and strength flowing through her and mending his wounds. Almost in a daze, she rose and found the next injured person and the next, healing each one with the goddess's guidance. When her whole village stood before her, alive and well, Mishakal's light faded from her hands.
Although the idea of leaving her village and her father was bittersweet, Iyala knew she had a duty to use this blessing to protect others who could not protect themselves. She set out from that day to strengthen herself and to place her shield and magic between the innocent and the forces of disaster.
I am definitely sorry that you didn't make it Matthias. Your application was definitely very good. It was awesome to hear that you'd be frequenting several times a day in the campaign if you joined, which is absolutely priceless for a game like this.
However, there were a couple of things that felt off to me. The biggest was probably your backstory. It was a single line, with very little character details and very little personalization. This isn't meant to be a super formal interview or like an essay where you're graded. But it did make it quite difficult for me to choose you compared to other people with rich, detailed, fun backgrounds. I took the background as an example of what kind of posts you'd be making in the future, and this campaign I'd really like to have more detailed, rich ones than "My character does this. rolls"
It's nothing against your character or roleplaying. It's just a personal preference of this game. In the future though, if you do write an application to one of my games or someone else's games, I do highly suggest putting in more time into your backstory or your character. Just adding a bit more time and effort really does go a long way.
Thanks so much for applying though! I'm sorry you couldn't make it.
We just literally closed up, I'm so sorry. Your application looks absolutely AMAZING, I wish you sent it in earlier! I feel like you'd definitely be able to make a slot if you did. If the game continues on and someone drops, I'll be sure to give you a poke to see if you're interested. I wouldn't count on it though, I really am sorry.

Thanks, btw I just came in acquaintance of the Phoenix Sorcery origins, that, seems to be very good for a tormented fire genasi, what do you think? It will fit well with DIcecloud? I have already an account there so
