I started this adventure with some friends back when it came out but never finished it, so let's see if we can't change that in PbP.
5 slots will be available. Make 3rd level characters, homebrew and UA must be approved by me, feel free to use races from Volo's except for the monsters. I expect a backstory from each applicant (I'm big on roleplay) to tell me where your character came from, why they adventure, and what they hope to achieve. It does not have to be long or over-specific, just enough to cover everything. Your characters may be part of the Sword Coast factions (Harpers, Zhentarim, Lord's Alliance, Emerald Enclave, Order of the Gauntlet) but do not have to be. This adventure takes place in the Dessarin Valley between Neverwinter and Waterdeep, for any of you Faerun history buffs that want to make a more localized character.
Do not request a slot if you cannot post AT LEAST ONCE EVERY TWO DAYS. I understand that life can be hectic, but I do not want invested players to lose interest because someone isn't going to post regularly.
If you have any questions feel free to ask. Thank you for your interest!
1- Matthias_von_Schwarzwald
2- JcAndD playing Arial, triton circle of the moon druid.
3- jhyoung09
4- LaRue playing Paakia, goliath battlerager barbarian.
5- Madclergy playing Tidbits, gnome arcane trickster rogue.
All full up! Closing down recruiting now. Thank you all!
Arial was once a famous pirate sailing the seas of the Forgotten Realms. He travelled far and wide, taking in the brisk excitement of the sea as often as he could. However. Even before that, he was once a young druid far beneath his beloved sea. In those times, his heart yearned for freedom. He often disagreed with his people's ideologies of staying far beneath the waves and took the first chance he had to leave the quiet lifestyle of a druid. Unfortunately, that brings us to now, as we see Arial in a landlubber's bar, drinking like... well a fish, but that's in poor taste. You see, Arial is now recovering from a devastating loss. The worst loss of his life actually. He remembers it clearly, a quiet day on the sea, the sun on his scaled face. Then, a storm, a powerful storm followed. Figures emerged from the waves. Proclaimed some dreck about the Crushing Wave. Naturally, as captain of his ship, he would go down with it... and so he did, but he took a few down with him, that he did. Now he's left bereft of ship and sea with the stupid emblem of the maniacs being all he is left to remember the event by. Life is feeling a bit fishy for Arial right about now...
I would like to save a spot on this, I'm working on a Gnome Druid. I would need to add backstory and add the levels. I'll try to get that done as fast as I can.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Paakia Lonewatcher Ganu-Miala, Goliath Barbarian/Path of the Battle Rager. Paakia's sibling was murdered by someone from the Dessarin Valley. She is from the Sword Mountains with her clan of Goliath. They regularly combat orcs and trolls for sport, and to prove themselves. One day, [someone] killed her sister, Lanika, while she was on her rite of passage battle with [something?]. Paakia was present and has been chasing [someone] down ever since. Last she heard rumor that [someone] was seen in the Dessarin Valley.
I can add more detail later if needed... I have no idea what to name the murderer lol.
edit: changed a name. I renamed this char Paakia. And since we are rolling stats, maybe I will get lucky!

I'd like to reserve a place, I have yet to play Princes of the Apocalypse and it looks like it could be a lot of fun. Will we be skipping any portion of the adventure, or playing right from the start?
I have a Gnomish Rogue (Arcane Trickster) that I rolled up that I think would be fun to play.
Character Info
Personality: There’s nothing I like more than a good mystery. I’m convinced that people are always trying to steal my secrets
Ideal: Knowledge. The path to power and self-improvement is through knowledge. (Neutral)
Bond: I’ve been searching my whole life for the answer to a certain question.
Flaw: I overlook obvious solutions in favor of complicated ones.
Background
Tidbits had spent most of his life as a wizards apprentice living in the town of Amphail. His mentor, a human of many years named Belanstyr Mountiron, was a kind if not forgetful man. Tidbits spent more of his time finding lost tomes, or going to acquire ingredients for spells that had simply been misplaced, than he did actually learning magic from the old man. He didn't mind much though because it gave him a chance to secret away with a tome or scroll of his masters to decipher on his own. Tidbits loved the puzzle, and the thrill of having a secret, his secret...nobody else's secret.
On occasion his Master would throw him a bone and teach him a thing or two about magic, but most of the time it was simply cleaning, and studying history. Until his Master grew ill, Tidbits had never really thought of life beyond being coup'd up in the old man's study. Belanstyr had seven sons, all of which had left home to find fame and fortune, none of which came running back when their Father grew ill. So Belanstyr passed, without a lick of family around him, and with no one to mourn him. So Tidbits did what he could, settled the old man's affairs, and then decided on a plan of action. A life of adventure was to be had, his life to this point was boring and he craved the road, travel, lore, going places where he shouldn't, being around scoundrels and adventurers, and if along the way he could answer the question that had prevented him from ever being taught true magic by Belanstyr, well that would just be icing on the cake.

There's some level 1-3 stuff intended for people who are just starting out D&D, but I wanna get right into the adventure proper, so I'm just starting everyone at level 3. I may cut some stuff down the road but I intend to keep this adventure as intact as possible.
Welcome aboard!
