"Valanthe is right. We should help whoever is crying. I think it's coming from over there..."

Thpas points in the direction he believes to hear the is the source of the weeping. "Keep in mind, we have a dinner planned and I'd like to change into my fine clothes, as to make a good impression."
Devious serpent folk devoid of compassion, yuan-ti manipulate other creatures by arousing their doubts, evoking their fears, and elevating and crushing their hopes. From remote temples in jungles, swamps, and deserts, the yuan-ti plot to supplant and dominate all other races and to make themselves gods.
Valanthe cautiously follows, while Byllemura knocks on the door, she checks the two-story home from top to bottom, walking around the entire property looking for exits and entrances on both floors, possible signs of forced entry, etc.
Judging by the size of the building, it appears to be a boarding house.
The door is unlocked. Inside, the first floor is empty save a few chairs and tables. In the center of the room is a sobbing old woman sitting on a stool holding a creepy doll.

"Well," Valanthe starts, "seems like some sort of boarding house - even gloomier than the --- where did everyone go???" Noticing the open door, Valanthe peeks in seeing a couple of her compatriots in the room with the crying woman and seeing her distraught, immediately runs in to check on her. Trying to comfort the old woman, she kneels down next to the sitting woman, places a hand on her shoulder and says, "Only light can dispel the shadows, and only song can chase away despair." She then begins to sing a song of comfort in Elvish.
Apparently, the woman doesn't understand elvish. She stares at you, bewildered.

"Sorry for the intrusion dear, but your tear falls could be heard from the crossroads. Please unburden yourself, and share with us your woes. We only wish to help." Thpas squats next to the old woman looking face to face, but avoiding the eyes.
Valanthe continues singing, although lower so as to not compete with Thpas's questioning of the distraught woman. While doing so, the doll catches her eye and she takes a good look at it.
Deroc had been walking, silent and broody, at the back of the group for a while now. He had been cautious and quite, while his companions had been brash and loud. Grimacing at what this job foretold, Deroc walked up to Thpas and lightly touched his shoulder.
"Hey, Thpas, I'm getting a funny feeling from this. I'm going to check out the second floor, make sure that nothing is hiding up there for us."
Walking away from the others, Deroc made his way upstairs, making sure to keep an eye on the old woman just in case.
Byllemura follows Valanthe and Thpas inside the house. She keeps her hood on and stays one step behind so as not to frighten the old lady, but close enough to hear whatever she may answer to Thpas.
The woman says (in response to Thpas): "All right. If you must know the cause of my sorrow,I will tell you. My daughter, Gertruda, has lived in the townhouse her whole life, for I have never let her out. I did it to keep her safe. But now, she has escaped!"
She breaks down sobbing again.
The doll she holds is obviously old. It is of a girl dressed in a tattered dress and painted to look like a zombie. Stitched into the doll is the slogan: "Is No Fun, Is No Blinsky!"
Byllemura, before entering the townhouse, notices some strange footprints that look like those of bare-footed humanoids.

Thpas nods in approval as Deroc makes his way toward the second floor.
(OOC: 6 Insight check on the woman to see if she's lying or holding hiding some sinister motive.) Hearing her words, Thpas glances at Byllemura furrowing his brow, questioning silently as something doesn't quite add up.
"I see... all little birds must learn to fly someday, mother. Please, tell us about her; her age, identifying marks, her hobbies and interests. Is there any place in particular she might go, or anyone she may have gone with? We may be able to find her and ensure her safety."

Does Emre know anything about "Blinsky"? History: 18
Valanthe stops her singing, looks down at the sad woman and, at the end of Thpas questioning, asks, "What were you trying to keep her safe from? What made you so fearful that you would keep your daughter locked away, her freedom chained to this... home."
"This all feels pretty dysfunctional to me," whispers Emre. To the woman on the floor, she says, "Ma'am, we're actually looking for the Burgomaster. Do you know where we can find him?"
"I have kept Gertruda here all of her life to protect her from the zombies and werewolves that haunt the village. But three days ago, she broke out and disappeared. She knows nothing about the outside world and I fear the worst for her. She has blue eyes, and dark hair, she is seventeen years old, and her mind is full of the fairy tales she was read as a child. The Burgomaster's Hall is down the street."

Byllemura tries to assess whether the old woman is telling the truth (Insight: 20) and says: "Do you have any clue as to where Gertruda could have gone? Can we examine her room? We have business to take care of with the burgomaster but we will keep an eye out and let you know if we learn anything about your daughter's whereabouts." Byllemura comes closer to Emre and whispers "I've noticed footprints outside, bare-footed humanoids. Could be the zombies the old lady is talking about..."
Valanthe stands up, "We may be off to see this burgomaestre, but we must find and save Gertruda! She's an innocent!" Turning to look at the woman, she says, "Don't worry, we'll find her. Question though: why are zombies and werewolves haunting the village? I've never seen them haunt any other village or town I've gone to.... I mean, sure, there may be one or two, maybe a cluster, at most, if a particularly evil cabal is trying to stir up some trouble, but I mean - sorry.... I run on when I'm feeling righteous or when a wrong must be righted." Then taking a pause and a breath, "Why are zombies and werewolves haunting Bavoria?"
