Toren moves out and looks wary. Zævrt moves in and sees his opponent. He casts his spell, but rather than attacking he holds, waiting for a better opportunity.

(I honestly wonder if it;s even necessary to do stat/ability checks against PCs outside of battle or if all things like persuasion, intimidation, deception between PCs during RP should be handled through dialogue like we do in real life)

(OOC: I like to roll because sometimes that lie might sound good, but the look on your face or the tone of your voice gives it away. You can't count for the complexity of face to face communication on a forum. Therefore, dice are used.)

(I guess I can understand that. But even when someone lies flawlessly, a person can simply choose to not believe what he's being told. Conversely, a person can choose to accept something that is a obvious lie for a plethora of reasons.

I don't know. I'm just saying it seems weird to me, that's all. )

(OOC: You always have that option. In that case don't roll, or do so you could say "I knew it!" later, and explain why through RP.)

(Rolling for character interaction isn't necessary but it can enhance your experience. I've had friends do it at the table. Particularly with deception. 'Hey, I'm just a frail innocent girl here *roll*' like, I know its not a frail girl they made a hero. '*roll badly* ok, girl, we'll protect you.')

Toren charges. Whirling his staff. He gets a jab past Zævrt's shield but he is protected from the attack by his armor. Toren brings around the back of the shaft, but he misjudges its reach and strikes it against the wall.

Viator shrugs. "I hadn't thought of that. Maybe I should go to the woods and find a owlbear or a honey badger or somethin' to fight. Probably be easier tham fightin' you." He laughs.

(You can fight outside the arena, but I won't likely adjudicate or give rewards.)
