After Strahd vanishes with Ireena, Kia stands up, seething, her tail lashing. "That is twice now he has had me by the throat. There will not be a third time."
OOC > I know it has been for dramatic effect, but next time, Kia wants to use the full effect of her 20 Dex to avoid being grabbed. Next time we see Strahd, she will also ready a Dodge action, so as to incur disadvantage on the neck grabbing, even if it take up her turn's Action.

Kia will not taunt the spawn, and instead growl while waiting for her turn.
Sounds good. I mainly do that for a narrative effect. Part action part story. ;) Some things catch you by surprise some things dont but there is always things that will happen to move a story forward. Will update as soon as I get to work.
OOC > Crispy, totally cool. I like the narrative effect, especially since it has pissed Kia off. For narrative effect next time, Kia is on the lookout for the sudden neck throttling. :)

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
Jhezryn leaps down and attempts to attack Imryll. Watch out, sucka!!
Attack: 21 Damage: 10 - WHAK!
Attack: 21 Damage: 8
Martha, as you attack and hit Zaedra, Ezmerelda yells: "It's not far! Just down the steps to the right! In the catacombs!"
As Spawn2 leaps down to attack, Stella pushes a button on her right gauntlet, winds up and with a seismic force that's nearly deafening, and definitely unexpected, punches Spawn2, completely obliterating it in a shower of blood and shadow, the thunderous impact nearly knocking her down.

OOC: Good question. I used a little google-fu and found this on Reddit: "By RAW, rolling a 1 or a 20 on a saving throw has no special effect, with the exception of death saving throws.
If you want to houserule something, maybe let a person completely ignore an effect on a natural 20 if they would otherwise take half damage." So, up to you Mr. GM. Should I only take half damage on Jez's attack on me (aka 5 points vs. 10), or just say the nat 20 roll has no special effect other than I was "in a zone"?

Hunter's Mark two spawn, then? I feel like every nat 1 or 20 should have some sort of result, especially if it's a nat 20.
OOC: Imryll's nat 20 on her CON save will allow her to take half damage on Jez's attack that round. Hunter's Mark on two enemies doesn't really make a big difference, since it basically allows me to highly focus on one opponent and give them extra 1d6 damage per hit, and when that opponent croaks, it automatically gets refocused on the next opponent.
OOC: BTW, looked at the math on Imryll's concentration save, reminder, all characters within 10' of Bors get a +2 bonus to all saves. Yes, Bors is that cool. :)

More tomorrow hang in there!
Imryll's initiative: 18
Imryll casts Hunter's Mark on the vampire spawn furthest away from the group.
Last to know and first to be blamed...
As a free action, can I regret my life choices?

Imryll rolls a Concentration (Constitution saving throw) save to maintain her Hunter's Mark spell after just getting hit: 4
OOC: Muahahahaha, that was a nat 20. Booyah! Imryll is in a zone and ignores that piddly little attack from Jhezryn.
Imryll, is a blur of attacks, lays into Taevia (Teva? Teavana?):
Attack 1a: 11 to hit, Damage: 23
Attack 1b: 11 to hit, Damage: 24
Attack 2a: 9 to hit, Damage: 15
Attack 2b: 16 to hit, Damage: 25

Bors, never one to be caught flat footed, sees an opening and attacks Jhezryn as he moves in on Imryll.
Sentinel Reaction: Attack: 26 Damage: 14 (magic slashing)

Bors will use a L1 Divine Smite on that attack: 9 radiant damage.
