I'm not looking for rule books. Hoping to find a list of some books one might come across IN D&D. I have a character that, as a background, wants to open up a book shop some day. Wondering where I'd find names of books/values of books.
It's a little late over here in the UK but I thought this was an interesting topic, and wanted to at least give you a quick reply.
One interesting book that springs to mind is actually Volo's Guide to Monsters. This 5th edition supplement is actually presented as a legitimate catalog made by Volo, complete with his commentary. This could be homebrewed as a real book in-game, likely an expensive one, and could perhaps give player's advantage on knowledge roles (history, arcana, religion) to do with creatures if they spend some time studying it.
Also, while no doubt extremely expensive, the existing magical tomes also spring to mind such as tome of understanding. I couldn't give you the names of other D&D books off the top of my head, but a bookstore could also provide empty spell books for wizards in need. You can see the general details of spellbooks and ordinary books here.
I'm sure there are sites like Candlekeep that have even better lists of the types of tomes found in the Forgotten Realms as well, but the FR wiki was a little faster to find. :)
Volo's guide to monsters is an item characters can buy in tomb of annihilation. Maybe Xanathar's guide to everything is the same, but haven't seen it in a campaign because none have been released since that book came out.

Anyone have something to point me toward?

Wary the wizard who focuses on homebrew, for he can create nightmares that you wouldn't even dream of
Baldur's Gate has tonnes of books, you could do a lot worse than nab them from here: http://baldursgate.wikia.com/wiki/Books
