The gift of stone magic can be both a force of good and a force of evil. Gorgonic sorcery derives its origins to the medusa: horrifying monsters transformed by their vanity, given the power to bring all who look upon them to lifeless statues. Sorcerers born with this form of sorcery are able to petrify their own forms at will, animate stone, and turn living flesh to lifeless stone.
This sorcerous origin here is my take on the UA stone sorcerer. Please tell me what you think (I have my doubts about the level 6 feature).

Devious serpent folk devoid of compassion, yuan-ti manipulate other creatures by arousing their doubts, evoking their fears, and elevating and crushing their hopes. From remote temples in jungles, swamps, and deserts, the yuan-ti plot to supplant and dominate all other races and to make themselves gods.
I like the 6th level ability, but the spell flesh to stone is very similar.
Animate Stone is very interesting however, it is written weirdly, I'll try my hand at it.
As an action, you can spend 4 sorcery points to cast animate objects at 5th level, targeting only stone objects. You may raise the level at which animate objects is cast an additional level for every 2 extra sorcery points you spend, provided you have spell slots for that level.
By 18th level I think you should be able to petrify people as a reaction and you should be immune to being petrified, advantage against it should come at 6th level.
