Hi all! Our group reached 5th level, which unlocked Extra Attack for my Eldritch Knight. The session after involved a combat where I attempted a sequence of events that my DM wasn't sure about, though it seemed correct to me. I just wanted to make sure I'm doing this right.
On my turn I cast Green-Flame Blade and made my melee attack. Then I used Action Surge and used the Attack action to hit the same target, followed by my Extra Attack. Is that all Kosher?
In the same vein, if I had the Haste spell active on me am I correct that after the above chain of events I could attack once more? (or any of the Actions listed in the Haste description)

To be clear, Green-Flame Blade only lets you attack once (I think this is what you said, but just so it's clear). But yes, your Action Surge gives you a full Attack action to play with, so you can make multiple attacks. If an 11th-level Fighter Action Surges, they can make 6 attacks in one round.
Haste only gives you a single attack you can make, as described in the spell itself.
Yes your chain worked fine. But to clarify why it is fine: Action Surge just gives you another Action to use.
Action 1: Cast a Spell - you cast Green Flame Blade which, as part of casting the spell, you can make a weapon melee attack, which you did for 1 attack so far this turn.
Action 2: Attack Action - you attack with a melee weapon. Since you used an Attack action you get to use Extra Attack for another weapon attack for 2 attacks this Action. That is 3 attacks in one turn.
The Haste spell grants you an additional Action that can be used to take an Attack action but is limited to 1 weapon attack (it does not benefit from extra attacks).
