One of the apparent features of the Mounted Combatant feat is that it allows whomever has it to redirect an attack targeted at their mount to them instead, but what I do not fully understand is whether that effect is just constant or a reaction on the part of whomever has the feat? If anyone is willing, could someone elaborate for me whether there was an official clarification? I tried a quick search and only found Mr. Crawford's "Rules References: 2017" on Wizard's own website which did not cover this feat.

The feat doesn't say redirecting attacks uses your reaction; therefore it doesn't use your reaction.
