With the new caster rules, specifying that classes have specified spell slots, how does that work with Double-casters?
I have a Sorc 4/Bard 3. How would I determine which slots are usable for Bard spells, and which are for Sorcerer spells? I just got my first 4th level slot, but have no 4th level spells. Is that slot Sorcerer or Bard? I worry that this new specificity means that the current Multiclass Spell Slot table no longer functions, since it provides general spell slots, not class specific ones.
If I'm missing something, feel free to let me know, this new change seems to make Double-casters more complicated unless I'm confused.
Multiclass casters use the spell slots table from the multiclassing rules instead.
This multiclass rule overrides the class allocation of spell slots.
Please note that your spells known per class is still based upon the individual class - this hasn't changed.
As you described, multiclassing two or more spellcasting classes means you will have spell slots that are higher level than any spells the character knows.
Multiclass spell slots can be used for any spell known by the character. All spell slots are multiclass spell slots for a multiclassed character. As stormknight says, this is all specifically discussed in the multiclass rules in chapter 6. Basically, nothing has changed as far as multiclassing is concerned. I think the rewording may have been related to feats like magic initiate or ritual caster where you specifically can't use your spell slots to cast the spell.

It's more for spells gained from racial traits and racial feats.
You can actually cast the 1st level spell from Magic Initiate using spell slots if you picked a spellcasting class you have levels in and that learns spells instead of preparing them.
E.g. The bard's Spellcasting feature says you can use your spell slots to cast bard spells you know. If you pick Magic Initiate (Bard) you learn an extra bard spell.
Oh no, does this mean I can no longer cast my Warlock spells with my Bard slots?
No. From multiclassing rules:
Pact Magic. If you have both the Spellcasting class feature and the Pact Magic class feature from the warlock class, you can use the spell slots you gain from the Pact Magic feature to cast spells you know or have prepared from classes with the Spellcasting class feature, and you can use the spell slots you gain from the Spellcasting class feature to cast warlock spells you know.

I can't seem to find that errata. Specified spells, yes, but not specified spell slots.

Okay, that makes sense. Thank you Storm Knight, that clarifies a lot!
Also thank you David, I wasn't sure how this rule was relevant if it didn't apply to Multiclassing, but the feat thing clarifies it.

To add information - for anyone wondering what errata is being discussed, it's all documented here.

Canto alla vita
alla sua bellezza
ad ogni sua ferita
ogni sua carezza!
I sing to life and to its tragic beauty
To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me
The rise and the fall, I've lived through it all!
No. From multiclassing rules:
Oh good, thank you.

Honestly, the question scared me into looking it up anyway.
