Anyone else using the planeshift articles for their games?
My group started a game in Innistrad, and it's been really fun so far! Sadly we haven't had the opportunity to go to Zendikar or Kaladesh yet, but I'm greatly looking forward to it.
I've been thinking about running a Planeshift campaign for a while with Planeswalker PCs - just waiting for a few more planes to get an article first :P
I keep having a Ravenloft / MtG Planeshift crossover float in my head, where the Mists connect the two, to get Strahd in Innistrad and watch the cultures clash.

Long time player of Magic and fairly new to DnD! The plane shift articles are amazing. I need to get some of my Magic friends into DnD though so we can play on the planes! Any thoughts on Unique planes walkers as other classes just with Planeswalking ability? A Druid ending up on Innistrad or an outlander Barbarian with no idea of technology ending up on Kaladesh? Or should we try to stick with the classes/races talked about?

Planeshift Zendikar is freaking amazing. So much meat in that thing! Absolutely looking forward to more planeshift articles! I really hope they make more! Man, wouldn't it be great to explore mirrodin??
It would be great to see more Planeshift articles. The 7th level spell 'Plane Shift' once gained opens the Cleric, Druid, Sorcerer, Warlock or Wizard to becoming a Planeswalker.
Obviously to play as a Planeswalker, we are in the realms of 13th to 20th level and beyond.

The way our DM approached this for our game was essentially we all needed to have had our "sparking event" immediately prior to the campaign starting. So, we were all very very new planeswalkers who didn't know what we were or how to planeswalk, and we're slowly leveling and getting assistance from another (OC) planeswalker. It's been a lot of fun so far! Though, I'm greatly looking forward to when we're just able to 'walk at will, haha.

When we started our game my Bard was a street performer (Entertainer/Gladiator background) from Ravnica, and our campaign started on Innistrad. This lead to some very interesting party dynamics because everyone thought he was crazy for talking about things like an unending city, the guilds, where all this forest was coming from, etc. It was very fun to start out with. So, things like that can be pretty fun.
Likewise, we later ended up with a soldier from Bant who was very surprised when we got to Theros.
I recently ran a one shot for some friends, a couple of which were new players. I asked what kind of game folks were interested in, and someone said "steam punk!" I'm not super familiar with steam punk other than a few books (His Dark Materials mostly) but I had just read through the sourcebook for Kaladesh, and I thought, oh dang, this could be fun. And it was! I look forward to returning to this plane in the future.

What other planes are you guys interested in seeing? These ones brought us some cool character races. I would love to have them bring to life Ravnica because it's my favorite plane and set. A similar one to ravnica just being very city based is the one for Fiore, it was from the supplemental set for Conspiracy and the city was upper and lower class, built around lies and espionage and reigning over the city as the new king/queen. That could be a really fun adventure setting. One of the newest characters for it could slip into the ghost plane to kill them permanently!
Another cool plane would be Lorwyn. It has so many fun races! From Fey to Donkey-people it introduced some cool mechanics I could see them bring to life here!
Finally, I cannot wait for them to release the Amonkhet one I know they are working on! It seems as though it is perfect for adventuring and it has the possibility for maybe some new races or classes that would be really cool!!!
Any thoughts or hopes for other planes?

Alara sounds like it would be really easy to slap together a pamphlet for. It is, by its nature, a D&D style kitchen sink fantasy. I wouldn't care if they never released a planeshift guide for it. But if they did, I would be hoping for a variant rule or some new magic, because, "Waves of raw power crash across the former planar boundaries, bringing long-forgotten magics to all the shards and mingling them in unprecedented ways."
I feel similarly about Fiora, I can build and run settings just like it in an afternoon, so I don't see much value in a planeshift book for that.
We already got Innistrad, which I guess is cool. I feel it's also very generic and easily replicated with minimal effort.
Kaladesh, though? Damn. I want to play in that world, where magicand steampunk collide. There's potential for new monsters, new spells, new equipment, variant rules, new classes, possibly a revival of incarnum from 3.5e? That could be a whole campaign book on its own.
Dominaria sounds like an excellent opportunity for them to publish materials for the Weatherlight, and also gives good reason to publish...
Mirrodin/New Phyrexia. Definitely. A world of living metallics would be so cool to explore. The card game has, in one way or another, repeatedly returned to this plane. It is deeply tied to the overarching narrative underlying that game.
Kamigawa offers opportunities to more deeply explore eastern fantasy in 5e, something I know people want, but it also offers an opportunity to expand on the undead and the dead, the aetherial plane, and add a lot more ghostly monsters to the game. Since it's a war against gods, it might even offer opportunity for variant rules about how that would even be represented in game terms.
Lorwyn and Shadowmoor are very obviously Feywild and Shadowfell equivalents. There's opportunity for a bunch of hobbit halfling subraces, and an official fairy race.
Ravnica is an awesome opportunity to build a small, flexible campaign toolkit in which faction mechanics are focused upon and expanded to have direct impact on how the campaign should develop. Also, an infinite urban crawl would be a cool game to explore, I think.
The only thing I want from Shandalar is an opportunity to dump a pile of slivers on a party of unsuspecting heroes.
Tarkir is an opportunity to create a spiritual successor to Council of Wyrms. MUST BE DONE!
Theros is just Grecian myth. D&D 5e is basically a tool kit to run this setting already.
And finally, we already have Zendikar! And it's awesome!
So... if possible, I want all of them. I just want some more than others.
I mostly pan for gold in those supplements. They have some great stuff.
Seriously! I actually ended up buying the Art of Kaladesh book in order to get more information and be inspired by all the gorgeous artwork. I'm definitely going to do more with this setting.

I agree wholeheartedly! I cannot wait to get a group together and have them all bring their planeswalkers into a Gatewatch or Infinite Consortium styled party!!

You know what else would be cool? If we could get official character sheets for some of the more important characters in the MTG plot.
For DMs, being able to have the official sheet for Jace, Chandra, Nicol Bolas, Karn, etc, would be wonderful. I hope this is something they do down the line, though I'm not sure if they'll end up going that extra step for awhile. I'm not sure how much overlap they have planned, or if Planeshift is just them throwing a bone to us MTG players, haha.
I think it's a settings bone while cross-pollinating interest in other WotC properties. We'd have to have Planeswalking mechanics, figure out how to make Jace, Nicol, etc fit either into a class or a monster (or both), that kind of thing.
But hey, free's free.
