Depending on your DM of course (does your DM choose your conjured creatures or do they let you have some sway over the spells?), what are your favourite creatures to summon (Conjure Animals, Conjure Woodland Beings etc).
Being in Barovia at the moment, I've gotten wolves (always a good result!), giant spiders, a crocodile. Haven't tried Woodland Beings yet....
My DM pretty much gives me full control over my summonings so I'm pretty lucky.
I have 2 favourite my first is woodland beings and summoning 8 pixies all with a bunch of spells which can be very useful in the right situations
The second is the summon elemental and planar binding combo, it isn't as good when you first get it, but I'm now level 16 and can cast it at 8th level meaning I currently have 4 elementals (one of each) as my body guards that last for a half a year.
How do find the 8 pixies plays out in the game? Do you control them individually (i.e. one does poymorph, one does sleep, one does fly etc etc), or do you kind of play them on mass, or does the DM play them out?
Don't want to drag the game down too much...but adding 8 spellcasters to the initiative worries me....how do manage?
Oh they never last very long, as they only have 1 hit point, but I pretty much always use them in mass or maybe 2 groups of 4 casting the same spell as they never usually hit on the first try. I think my most successful use of them was dispell magic on a bunch of effects a caster boss had done, only got rid of 2 or so but was epic for a spell of that level. Mass sleep can be pretty good. But yea my advice use them in mass to either alter the whole party (fly/polymorph) or to endure a spell hits (sleep/dispell magic/or even contested polymorph)
