Because gaining height without gaining weight sounds ridiculous for a feature based on Giant magic, I came up with a formula for weight gain.
New Weight = ((New Height/Old Height)^3)*Original Weight
I used the Enlarge spell’s precedent of an 8X weight increase for 2X height as the model.
I did this mostly so I can feel good about my gnome using heavy weapons without penalty at 10th level, as the formula now puts him at 4'-7" and 90 pounds, on par with a Drow Elf.
I spoke to my DM and he agreed without the weight gain model, but I was curious what the numbers would look like, then I homebrewed an Over-Sized Forest Gnome race for my DDB sheet.
Yes, I know it doesn’t say anything about weight gain in the feature description. This is our table’s homebrew solution. Do whatever you want at your table. It's fun to work it out for any race, especially if you want a character with a little more meat on their bones.
There's nothing at all wrong with the concept, and as a DM I'd probably let you use standard Heavy weapons, but most people want more than that. They like the idea of using a Giant's weapons, and those nearly always have much better stats.
The game already has formulas for calculating the height and weight of your character based on their race. The simplest solution would be to take the values you used when rolling up the character, increase the height modifier to match your new height, and let the formula determine what your new weight is. That way you'll remain proportional for your race.
