Something's up with the link but I was able to get to the character sheet by manipulating the url which was weirdly including a link to a forum thread and your character in the url. Not sure what happened there.
Anyway, the one thing that stands out to me is the 8 con. This is going to leave you with not a lot of HP in the long run. I played an archery focused rogue and got by with 10, but really should have given her a bit more. I'd recommend giving your character a bit more con for HP.
If these stats were point buy, I'd suggest maybe dumping STR down to 10 as a dump stat, or taking a point away from some combination of dex, wis and cha to put more into con. Having 16 dex instead of 17 wont' be very useful unless you're planning to eventually take a feat that gives +1 dex on your path to getting 20 dex. You don't have to play this way of course, but ideally you'll want to get your dex to 20 at level 8. Since it'll make your attacks more accurate, hit a little harder, and improve your AC on top of skill checks of course.
If you're using rolled stats or standard array, I'd recommend swapping out one of your higher numbers into con and making something else your dump stat. DEX is of course your most important stat, and wis is useful for perception when sneaking around. But I while your CON isn't going to be your highest stat I would not neglect it to this degree unless you're fine with playing a character with low HP who will probably go down easily.
If you're going to focus on archery maybe the low con won't be a big problem but if you plan to be melee focused, I 100% would recommend trying to squeeze out more.
DEX is the main stat for rogues and a high WIS for perception. But, I also noticed that you are splitting your third highest stat between INT and CHA.
My opinion is to make CON your fourth highest stat as you will probably need to take a hit eventually, and choose one (between INT and CHA) as your third highest stat. The reason is that if you join a party, chances are there will be someone with a higher CHA (Bard, Paladin, Sorcerer or Warlock) or higher INT (Wizard and maybe Artificer).
The rogue is best used for 1) scouting, infiltrating, exploring, and 2) dropping a huge load of damage with sneak attack, which capitalizes on your high DEX. You can also augment any of these with sub-classes like scout, thief, and assassin.
But, if you are raising CHA and INT, you want a character that is something of an investigator or negotiator. My advice is like above, choose one that you wish to do more and drop the other as you will not be able to do everything (and you shouldn't as the rest of the party would also want to contribute).
If you also choose to drop either CHA or INT, I suggest taking skill proficiency in Insight as it is pretty useful (so as to make use of your above average WIS).
Below are just some ideas for later.
If you choose CHA, then I would recommend taking the sub-class of Swashbuckler.
Swashbuckler: Charismatic master duelists, swashbucklers use their Charisma in unique ways both in and out of combat, and are masters at engaging foes one-on-one.
If you choose INT, then I would recommend taking the sub-class of either Inquisitive or even Arcane Trickster.
Inquisitive: Masters of Insight and Investigation, the Inquisitive is hard to surprise or fool, and they can use their keen insight to allow them to Sneak Attack foes more easily than most rogues.
Arcane Trickster: Use illusions and enchantments to confuse and outsmart your foes.
Sorry if a bit much, I just like rogues a lot and hope you enjoy playing one.
Yeah that's a good point on subclasses. Do you know what subclass of rogue you want to take eventually? That could help inform the stats a bit more. I would suggest taking 12 or 14 CON. You don't need super high con, but I would probably at least bump it up to 12 so you can take a hit. You get some tricks like uncanny dodge and evasion, but you'll still want to be able to take a hit or two, especially since uncanny dodge only affects one attack and many creatures get multi attack.
Having a bit more info on what sub class you're going with and what you want the character to excel at would be helpful. For example if you're going for more of a swashbuckling duelist and less a sneaky scout, that may affect things etc.
Hello, Bit new to all this and looking for advice. Not even sure if I'm in the right area right now.
I'm looking for advice on my first character build before i go off applying to join groups. I think i got the idea down, but i'm not 100% sure.
I have the players handbook, Starter Kit, PDF character sheet, and beyond character sheet.
Character: Aust "vall" Laidon
Referencing the handbook, Vall would be his "child" name.
Let me know what you think, and where i could improve as a rouge player building out this character.

I agree with everything Nyr_Ventus said.
