Crossbow expert is way overrated. You should be using your bonus action to hide every turn. You should be able to hide every turn via cover. If not that’s why I prefer the arcane trickster archetype to make illusion cover.
But for feats elven accuracy and sharpshooter are all you need. Since you are stealth every turn you’ve advantage on attacks (three dice with elven accuracy). Sharpshooter you pick up after you hit 20 dex. -5 to hit doesn’t matter when you roll three dice.
Also, stealth has the added benefit of not being targetted. I’m playing through tomb of annihulation in adventures league with an arcane trickster flavored as ninja. Started level 1 and am currently level 5. I haven’t been hit once by an attack due to hiding all the time (plebty of coverage in te jungle)
As a dual-wielder I need my bonus action, so Mobile is an exceptional feat because it allows me to duck out of range after attacking, without having to spend my bonus action on Disengage. And the +10 movement speed on my wood elf gives me a total speed of 45 feet, which is totally broken
Or just take the Inquisitive archetype to use your bonus action for a chance for free sneak attack on all your hits for ten rounds! Because how often were you gonna get to use Assassinate, anyways?
This is one of the few situations where True strike can be helpful.
Normally, it gives you advantage for your first attack next turn. Advantage lets you roll two d20s... but you can also roll two d20s if you just attack on both turns.
