I love the mastermind rogue idea, but I’m struggling to determine what race I should do to help build it. I also think I don’t want to level past 14 in the rogue class so any suggestions on a multi class? I’m relatively new to dnd so any advice would help
As far as race, are you using the optional rules for floating ability score boosts?
If you’re new to D&D, probably you shouldn’t multiclass. But if you want to, first see how high the campaign is going. Then, decide what you want from the multiclass so you can know what class to take, and where you’ll need to put your ability scores. Once you know that, you can see what you’ll give up in exchange for the stuff you pick up from multiclassing. But, few campaigns even hit level 14, let alone get past it, so it may not be an issue.
Also, make sure you understand the kind of campaign you’ll be in. Masterminds do well in intrigue heavy campaigns, but if there’s a lot of combat, you won’t get much use from your subclass abilities.
I think human just for the feat is really good, but I can decide between martial adept or lucky. I think magic adept would be helpful too but I just don’t know enough about how to build this to determine which one is best
It’s definitely more of an intrigue campaign. I think the campaign will wrap up around 17th level but I just don’t see any super good rogue abilities for combat, which is why I want to see if multi class battle master would be good, or if I should go a spellcasting route
