Anyone of you uber smart character builders have a pro oneD&D build idea for a Duel wielding Pirate Phantom Rogue - pistol in 1 hand and dagger/rapier in the other?
Finding it hard to make work - firearms feats, rogues bonus action is so important using for an extra off hand attack seems wasteful, etc
Reckon Phantom Rogue is such a great subclass flavor-wise but needs a revamp in oneD&D as well, Tokens of the Departed at lvl 9 is simply too late. I would ask my kind DM to move it to lvl 6.
Rogue class in general get's their second subclass feature at level 9 across the board, vs. other classes at 6 & 7. I agree, I do think it should be 6 or 7 to make it comparable to the other subclass features. But currently it is not - so, you would simply have to choose each round if the Cunning Action is needed or if you can afford to take the shot for extra damage. It probably depends on if you land your first rapier attack or not. If you hit, unload the sneak ... then I'd scurry away and battle field maneuver. If you miss, blast the pistol for a chance to apply your sneak attack that round.
Bonus Action: (Here is where it gets tricky. You would have to choose between the off-hand attack or disengage so as to not provoke attack of opportunity) Don't forget at lvl 3 Phantom you get Wails from the Grave, which attacks a second enemy 30 feet visually from first attacker, which is also a bonus action.
If you have TWF you can add your modifier to off-hand attack. Keep in mind one of the biggest reasons, to me, a rogue would use a 2 weapon attack is to maximize chance of sneak attack. Bonus action is very situational, but I think what you're proposing is do-able. Go for it and have fun!
Hi legends

So a round could go like this:
Action: Attack
Bonus Action: (Here is where it gets tricky. You would have to choose between the off-hand attack or disengage so as to not provoke attack of opportunity) Don't forget at lvl 3 Phantom you get Wails from the Grave, which attacks a second enemy 30 feet visually from first attacker, which is also a bonus action.

Wails from the Grave is not a bonus action.
You are correct Elfdope. Got that confused with something else.
