Hey quick question if a rouge strikes a creature with immunity or resistance to bludgeoning piercing or slashing from non magical weapons does the sneak attack apply to the hit and for resistance does it do half of the sneak attack or the full amount?
the rules for sneak attack state that it is "extra damage" but aren't specific in the nature of that damage, so I always concluded that it must be of the same type of damage as the weapon, as that's where the damage is coming from.
That's my take too. Damage from Sneak Attack, Hunter's Mark, Rage, Sharpshooter & Great Weapon Master all just boost the damage of the weapon attack they're attached to, rather than creating an additional damage source such as the Radiant damage from a Paladin's Divine Smite or a Warlock's Hex.
