An idea which I like very much in this contest is to homebrew a genie as patron (like a Djinni or a Efreeti). With a bit of words modification, you can kind of take the same spells (or take some of your choosing) and class features of the Fiend path and transform them as coming from one of the elemental planes.
You don't HAVE to make the patrons follow those specific rules. The patrons within the groups don't all have to follow the same rules. You can have a great old one that doesn't want world domination. The Archfey patron of my warlock is a meddler who likes riddles and poling problems (and also solutions). In my game, I list ALL the gods in the back of the PHB as "otherworldly beings" and players can be a warlock to one of them. One of my friends is a Warlock to Loki, under great old one.
