I honestly think that warlocks should get the language of their patron, i.e. Abyssal for demonic patron, infernal for devil patron, sylvian for archfey, and deep speech for the great old one. I mean, you would think that your patron sharing their knowledge with you would extend to their language. That's just my opinion though.
In my last campaign, the patron need not speak a word, as all communication was telepathic or 'enlightened'. The patron should have the ability to make itself heard, regardless of race, language, etc. of the applicant.
Our DM (and players) all agree on "you don't know a language unless it's story-based or you learn it." My Infernal warlock happened to know infernal (when no one else did), but only because in his backstory his family regularly dealt with devils, otherwise it was on the forbidden list until it came up in game. Now that he's a Celestial Warlock (formerly Undying Light), he still knows Infernal, but didn't automatically learn High Speech. If he wants to learn it, he'll have to a) discover High Speech (it's not well known) and b) find a tutor or a way to learn it.

Well, it is up to the player to select a language which is known to the patron.
But even if this is not the case, a patron may have means to comprehend and speak unknown languages, or simply known the Common.

I agree with @Sedge. Patrons should usually speak to their warlocks through telepathy.
