2024 you can, origin feat magic initiate cleric or druid, 2014 you can get the spell for one cast but you wont know it. I think healing word is a better choice, but have at it.
Yes previously it was campaign specific, so if you were doing strixhaven for example the witherbloom class got a list of spells you could add to your list which included cure wounds. eberron had something similar with its race specific ones. Now, just take a origin feat, and things like feytouched and other cast a spell once feats add it to your list. With healing now being abjuration currently none of those past the magic initiate would help for cure wounds.

I don't understand this. The school of magic the spell falls under is entirely irrelevant to the magic initiate feat (both versions).
I was not clear I guess. I was sating on the first part you can take a origin feat lie magic initiate, or a general feat to expand your spell lists and yes that would be level 4+
On the 2nd part I am referring to non magic imitate ways to expand your spell list like fey touched or shadow touched, neither of which give abjuration as a school option. .
If you are a wizard or Sorc just pick up the new for 2024 2nd level spell Arcane Vigor..."
You tap into your life force to heal yourself. Roll one or two of your unexpended Hit Point Dice, and regain a number of Hit Points equal to the roll’s total plus your spellcasting ability modifier. Those dice are then expended.
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. The number of unexpended Hit Dice you can roll increases by one for each spell slot level above 2.

It is now easier than ever to learn spells that are outside of your class.

Fey-touched, Shadow-touched and such cannot be taken as an Origin Feat. The only Origin feat that allows you to add a spell is Magic Initiate.
Cure wounds cannot be selected for Fey/Shadow touched feats (2014 or 2024), because neither versions allowed selecting Evocation or Abjuration spells.
