I'm not sure if death is handled the same way during an Epic event as in a "normal" AL session?
Myself and 3 other DMs are running a "test" Epic event this weekend, in preparation for an authorized event in a month.
In the Epic event we're using for a test, Drums of the Dead, the entire event happens within about an hour or so of game time. So there's no downtime, and Volo, who is there to sell spells to the PCs in between the quests, does not have any resurrection spells available.
So what happens when the PCs die during a quest? Are they out of the rest of the game?
Assuming the PC is indeed out of the rest of the game, right now, we're toying with the idea of allowing the PC to come back, so they can still play, but making sure they know that, in the official event, that would *not* be happening...
I hope this rambling post makes sense :P

"The Meek shall inherit the earth, while the Strong escape to the stars..."
I'm a bit confused by the comments since I read it differently.
The epic says:
"Volo wanders the event, offering the spellcasting services listed in the Adventurers League Dungeon Master’s Guide.Players must pay for these spells using their character’s gold. Once purchased, the spells are cast instantly and without the requirement to spend downtime days."
The list in the ALDMG includes raise dead, resurrection and true resurrection under spell casting services so these should be available.
This would need to be adjusted for season 8 by allowing the players to spend treasure points and go in to treasure point debt if needed to bring their character back during the epic since it is unlikely for most players to have the gold cost required (this is actually stated as a note under the spellcasting services table).
The best solution is for most of the players not to die ... epics are more epic if they win :)
However, if a character dies, does not have the resources to get resurrected or does not want to spend the TP to do so at that time then they are out of the epic since the character is dead.
In this specific Epic event, Volo is only selling certain spells/services. In the handout for this event, he only has spell scrolls up to level 4, and no Raise Dead/Resurrection, etc.
So the players pretty much need to have those spells available themselves, or they're out of luck, I guess...but I also agree, that it's more epic if they win ;)

Ah!
I see the confusion now :)
