I read the conversion rules and I do not think this would work but I thought I would ask in here. My character is at level 3 so I can still "rebuild" / "remake" him, or what it is called. When I made him I could not pick asimar as race my choise of PHB+1 went to get me the divine soul sorcerer. But during season 9 you can pick asimar as I race no matter of your choice of PHB+1, is that correct?
I also saw rules for dropping lightbringer and the flight that is one time per long rest to get a permanent flight of 30 feet (I might have misunderstood this). Does that only apply if I make a new level 1 character, or would I be able to pick this if I recreate the character (before level 5)?
And what generally happen if you create a character using "seasonal rules" like this when it goes over to the next season?
So, this was a topic of discussion on Facebook yesterday (9/19/19). The Plane-Touched Wings feature at the end of the ALPG document is what gives you the ability to choose Aasimar for your race without VGtM counting as your +1 (despite the name of the feature, it's not just wings that the feature gives you). The Plane-Touched Wings feature is only available to characters created specifically for Season 9, so it does not apply to characters who were created in previous seasons (even previous Aasimar). It's intended to incentivize people to create new characters for Season 9, as well as to bring in an influx of winged Aasimar and Tieflings.
Your understanding re: dropping Light Bearer and the 3rd level racial trait to get a 30' fly speed is correct; it only applies to characters created for Season 9. But I think it would apply to new Season 9 characters that you initially create as another race, but then rebuild as an Aasimar. The key question is, when (during which season) was the character initially created?
I've been looking for a subrace or variant template to implement in the character builder for this, but can't seem to find one. Has anyone seen one in the homebrew creations? In the meantime, I will probably work on creating custom subraces, but I can't figure out how to remove the Light Bearer trait or how to add in the new movement type (I haven't created any homebrew stuff yet).
For now, my very imperfect workaround is to instead create a Tiefling for Season 9. :)
Well it's been said a few times that DnD beyond wants to start supporting Adventure's League. I think it would be fair to assume that small seasonal changes are just another toggle on the character creation page they would add in to cover things like this. As it stands though I don't know where they would add it in.
That being said, since DnD beyond is just for tracking purposes and AL requires you to use the Honor system; there shouldn't be any issue with just creating or using a custom race and replacing the feature yourself. I know I personally want this features as well as the variant IMPs for my celestial pact of the chain Aasimar.

I am thankful for any advice on the matter!
