i know wizards makes card for each class that I’m sure are nice. But I’m looking to maybe go a cheaper route with index cards or maybe someway to print them out. Anyone have any ideas?
I use the following tool to generate spell cards, magic item cards, and even monsters. Spells I do in a poker sized card (9 per sheet of cardstock) and then use a binder with double-sided pockets to store the cards in which I find really nice. For monsters, I do larger cards (4 per sheet of cardstock). It's a lot of work up front to enter the data, but well worth it in my opinion. I print them on 110# (199m2) cardstock and use a cheap craft cutter. I like the official cards, but as I use these from a DM perspective and the official cards just weren't flexible enough, way too expensive to get a complete set of all spells, and this allows me to hand out nice cards for magic items instead of my chicken scratch writing on an index card.
