I have a few different terrain Flip-mats (folding ones) but find that they are just so big and drawing a dungeon on them just ends up being more work having to cover/reveal sections. I'm toying with the idea of cutting them into different sized pieces to so I can build a map easier without having to draw so much and use them more like tiles I can piece together. Any tips on how to best manipulate them? If you have cut them into smaller grid segments, what sizes what ones do you recommend?
If I were to cut up a flip-mat, I do it along the folds (creating six individual 8"x10" panels)... which I'd probably only use as covering for another flipmat.
- I've found that laying down individual tiles is actually harder during play than removing covering sections.
fwiw: Paizo also sells flip-tiles if you just want tiles.
