Nothing yet, I'm sure we will get alerts when it's ready, but my guess is at least a couple of weeks (at least) between each Phase (for them to tweak and amend based on feedback).
Unless I'm not seeing/hearing it, no word on when Phase 2 is expected to release. How about some details on what is IN phase 2? Is there some unified place to go for these details?
Far as I can tell, it will include a character builder & character sheets... Anything else?
Will it include more data in what is currently deployed, beyond the SRD? What about functionality for encounters/initiative/combat management, including integration into the currently delivered monsters/spells? What about adventure logging/tracking? Map building? Random "whatever" generators? Private forums for our own adventures (part of homebrew perhaps)?
I read somewhere that they're expecting full roll-out by summer, so that kind of gives an idea how long each phase will take. Patience, all will be revealed to you. ;]

OK, what does "full roll-out" mean? Does it include those items mentioned so far in each phase?
I've seen references here and there in the forums to a number of different things that are planned, but are any of the them to be included in either phase 2 or 3? Or are they "beyond" those phases?
Patience isn't a problem HyperFox... just wondering if there have been details about what specifically is in each phase. Time moves quickly at my age, so summer will be here before I know it.
So, what do we know? What is the speculation if we don't?
There has been speculation of such, which usually dies out when specific questions are asked and a staff member requests patience. You are free to attempt to get further though! May luck be with you. : )
It's my understanding that they hope to have the site out of Beta by summer, everything open and running and most of the testing done. Also, I thought I saw somewhere that Phase 2 would be out this week or next, but again, I'm not sure. I'm currently scouring the forums for the thread I saw that on. As far as I know, P2 will consist of finishing the compendium, opening character creation, character sheets, and whatever that entails. I would speculate that P2 will be a short phase. If all they do is open character sheets, it won't take terribly long to test them with as many people there are wanting to see them. P1 and P3 ought to be the longest for various reasons, but P3 will take some time because that's when they'll test everything coming together and making sure everything runs semi-smoothly will take some time as some tools will be used a lot less that others.
Trust me, I understand just how fast time can move, lol.

Any thoughts on when paying for content will happen? I am guessing any expansion beyond the SRD/Basic rules would be once the pay plan is in place, since that is the only 'free' content that makes sense to be available. That said, does that mean the all 3 phases of beta would carry that restriction, how long after might that change if that is the case?
I'm currently utilizing numerous other sites, some free and some paid, for various features that would be great to have all in one place. That type of value doesn't likely come for free, even if I can get it elsewhere without having to pay... It's the integration of all of the tools, features, etc WITH real D&D 5e content that we are all wanting.
Overview (with my speculation on what each might mean):
Phase 2
Character Building/Character Sheets - using the existing phase 1 data to build characters and have a character sheet (which may include the ability to print). Not really sure how many.
Possible expansion of the compendium and/or other items in phase 1 (noted by HypeFox) - I am personally doubtful, sorry, as anything more would be giving away content without payment ... unless that is also part of phase 2 (and nothing has shown me to believe that is happening).
Phase 3
Homebrew Integration - allow users to add their own content to what has been delivered in phases 1 & 2 for just themselves or to everyone that is part of D&D Beyond. I would believe it would be limited to just your own homebrew, but then again...
Campaign Management - ability to link/integrate the tools from phase 1 & 2 into a campaign.
I never really thought about ~when paying would happen, I just kind of knew it would happen eventually. I agree that it would make most sense to happen after the typically free things are finished. I would imagine, or hope rather, that up until all the beta stages are finished some of the content from all three phases will be free for testing purposes. Though, they wouldn't necessarily have to do it that way, as I'm sure there are more than enough people willing to put some money down even in the beta phase.
As for the doubt on the expansion of the compendium, it was my understanding that even the free content wasn't complete so that's why I said they would expand it. I didn't mean to imply that they would give more than normal, just that they would flesh out the rest of what is already offered free. My apologies.
Your overview is the closest to what I imagine happening as it is what makes the most sense.

No need to apologize HypeFox, it's all good. I've read/heard that there are bits missing that are either from the SRD or the Basic rules, both of which are out there and available free. To your point, that could be what is expanded.
As for the phase 2 & 3 outlines... It's only my best guess based on what I've seen posted or alluded to.
Until I hear more details, I'm keeping my expectations low while looking forward to the opportunity to see what they are thinking. Again, if it's a fully integrated tool that helps me as a DM to run a fun campaign then I'm probably going to be a paying customer.
I just realized... DUH! I can go through the posts of others, in this case BadEye, and see if I can garner any other details.
Found this from 5 days ago from BadEye, in response to comments in the first days and what is coming:
- Mobile app is a definite, but I can't unveil a schedule for its release. The honest truth is we're working on it and we don't yet know how long it will take to get out. We've got a great mobile dev team that will deliver the goods though, and I'm excited to get to that point. And yes, the mobile app is central in our offline strategy - I don't think that's too big of a secret.
- As for timelines, the general window is we are launching this summer!
- We're very close to being able to reveal what's what with pricing. I could tell you parts that are confirmed, but I know the internet and know how partial information is absorbed and reacted to. I would rather wait (and I ask the community to wait) just a little longer to get the entire picture.
- And finally, this is such a small part of what we plan to deliver for DDB. For launch we'll have the compendium and listings, character management, homebrew, etc., but the future holds encounter and monster builders, combat/ initiative tracker, integrations with other licensed partners, all kinds of cool streaming stuff and the list goes on. I don't want to give the entire list here because the roadmap will be informed and prioritized based on what players want.
I bolded the last part, as I found it to be very notable... A whole bunch of stuff coming, but not in the beta. Which is a whole different timeline.
I had hoped that many of those might be in phase 3, now it's looking less likely. Sigh.
The last part would be nice to get as soon as the beta season was done. However, it's just like with any other project, waiting until all of those things are done would push the release of what they want the core product to be back to an unnecessary time. I agree that some of those things would be nice to have in P3, but alas, it's a give and take. Besides, it gives something to look forwards too.

I believe that the rollouts will be 3 weeks apart with ideally the final product being released in late April to early May.
Also the beta has been confirmed to only include the SRD information. The rest will be released for subscription based members when the actual tool is released. Badeye said it himself.

I hope and am sure that they know that the load and interest they're experiencing now, and in the initial opening of the beta, is nothing compared to what will happen once the character builder is online. There are a gazillion SRD sites, and many that have more content (even though illegal), and so aside from some initial interest in the SRD and forums, most users will have come and gone already. But the character builder, that's the main draw of the site for, I would bet, 90% of potential subscribers. So whatever load they saw under the Compendium/Forums beta is probably going to get a lot heavier with Phase 2.

I would encourage everyone to remember that Summer means anytime between June and August. It's possible it may not be released until the end of the season.
Personally, I don't think the length of beta testing for character sheets and the character builder are going to be any shorter than the other phases. In fact, given that it seems to be a popular feature that people are eagerly awaiting, I would not be surprised if it was a bit longer.
As some have said, the phase 2 items are going to be the things that probably sell a subscription/purchase for many people. Given that, it's reasonable to assume that they want to make sure they get the form and function nailed down as much as possible. If it's a marquee feature then it better work and it better work well.
They've clearly stated that the beta will be SRD material only. They are testing the functioning of the tools and will slot the other content in once they know everything is working. I am assuming the other content outside of the SRD will require some kind of purchase.
I agree Mittens, I don't see there being a rapid release schedule and/or any quick phases of this launch. In my opinion, that is a good thing since it leads me to believe that they are focused on building a strong foundation of integrated tools that will meet peoples needs and wants long term.
I, for one, won't be interested in paying for some crappy online tool (even if it's "cheap") that was rushed behind a pay wall and it's not available after 6-8 months because it didn't make a profit.
That's my 2 cents, 'nuff said.
