Both the emails we receive regarding what's happening and the notification center completely lack context. I literally get an email with a list of a billion people having said something, but no reason to care. This is going to be a particular problem when using forums to get rules comments in an active game. I can't tell if a post being made is actually helpful or just a "me to" or worse yet a troll. Until it changes I've marked DnD Beyond notifications as spam.
Yeah I know, but I want notifications when I'm sitting here playing on the site, its just the useless email notifications which were really bothering me. But both of them need to be improved.
I haven't used twitch before, are all twitch notifications so... unhelpful?
I agree that currently the notifications are just basic functionality with not much in the term of usability.
But "better" and "improved" aren't likely to help the team, are they? :p
What do we want from Notifications?
Personally, I'd like the ability to choose a sub-forum and get notified when there's a new Thread in it (for example in "News & Announcements" or "Rules & Game Mechanics").
And perhaps some grouping in the digest - "7 posts in this thread - click here to go to the first unread post", or something.

Isn't that what the "subscribe" option on the "tools" drop-down menu at the top right of each sub-forum is for?
I did get a notification on a new thread created in one of my subscribed subforums, though, so this works as expected! (as most people expected, at least. I don't know what I expected... ¬.¬ )
The notifications screen on mobile is pretty worthless as well, as it shows you notifications for things you've already seen nested below the real notification, meaning if you have multiple posts in multiple threads, you have to scroll a lot in order to actually see what the new posts are.
I'm sorry I wasn't specific enough on my gripe. Sorry.
The most basic of basics to me would have actual information in those notifications. Not "XXX has just replied to YYY thread" but giving a brief overview of what was said. YouTube does a 500 character preview. Anything to actually let me see if what they've said is actually important to me.
If they are sticking with the simple system they have now then i'll agree that grouping is essential. But if I'm going to get told about every post tell me what the post says.

Can we please get better notifications.

Honestly I've turned all notifications off until they're improved. You can do that in your user preferences.

Gah.
Well, let's see, I just subscribed.
I hope that's what it does. If so, I will reiterate the need for a "Help" function or other means of putting tips and tricks of usage out there. :p
I'll help ya test it. ;)
