We were trying to use the Beyond tools last night and found the site to be surprisingly slow. Often we had easily found the information we needed from the Players guide (even with the ubiquitous index problem "Short Rest, see Resting").
We have super fast broadband, so that isn't the problem and we saw slow page loads and no page loads on both Chrome and Safari.
It's going to be essential that performance is fast during gameplay. Is anyone else seeing these issues?
I definitely agree that site performance is very important, and we are constantly looking for places to improve load times.
In addition to the information that Sorce requested, I also wanted to know if there was there a particular page or section on the site where you noticed the slowdown happening.
Another question to answer that might help is what is the speed of your wifi and internet and how many devices were trying to use it at the same time? I used to have a craptastic network connection and also some services have you sharing bandwidth so you actually get less as demand for access goes up. Now if you are on your own never changing fiber connection and have a decent wifi setup this is probably not the issue unless maybe something is being wonky with the wifi router.

Forgot to post this yesterday (I'd forget my head if it wasn't screwed on) - This was from @hartlessD20 when I asked about any site issues:
In regards to the slow load times, I'm seeing a 15 min window last night (night OP posted about) from about 10:14pm to 10:29pm central time due to site issues. Outside of those time, the site should have been performing as normal unless there were regional internet issues close to the user.
If it was during that time frame then that would be the cause, outside of then it may require checking with your ISP or some of the other suggested checks posted above.
I had the same issues during a AL session at my FLGS. Using the mobile connection on my phone, the lag was so terrible that is was faster to check the book. This was on the 22nd from 12pm to 3pm CST. It could also mean I need a new phone since the last time I got one was back in 2008.

Yeah, with a mobile connection there are a few things that could possibly have weakened the signal - your location in reference to the cell towers, how strong the signal really was, how well the phone was working at the time, weather can sometimes wig things out even but not like they used to. If you play in that place regularly do the following: see how strong your signal is, try D&DBeyond as well as other sites (weather.com can be a slow beast so if that can load but D&D Beyond doesn't it isn't the connection), and note if the weather was different for both days for the fun of it as you never know. ;)
It would have been around 3pm CDT about when Oscar had his issues, not the 10pm CDT times posted. So that rules out it matching up with a known site issue.
Anyway, if anyone notices funky lag, note what device you are using, where you were, etc and then see if you can duplicate it. Internet lag can be a random thing based on issues anywhere along the path, much like you never know where you might hit higher traffic when driving. ;) The more info you can supply and the more times you can duplicate it, the easier it is to give a more precise conclusion to where the issue is at. And ALWAYS test other sites on the device to see if they are reacting like DDB or not. If all the sites are doing it, it is a local connection to you.
Testing data lag and packet losses were one of the banes of my existence in IT because too many things could be causing the issue and pinpointing that one spot causing it can be crazy. Though unfortunately most of the issue does end up on the ends and not in the middle as it is compiled into a bigger more robust beast there. That beast would be impacting a lot of data if it was not working right and alarms would be going off. ::chuckles:: And network techs would be getting sick of the phone ringing off the hook because people want updates NOW. Been there.

Definitely not 10pm CDT - even us hard core D&D players are generally tucked up in bad (or wrapped around a bottle) by3 in the morning UK time.
I know it wasn't my wifi - other sites were responding fine.It was affecting both an iOS device and an Android device; Safari (urrgh) and Chrome respectively, so probably not a specific browser issue.
Given that it does look like there are occasional issues that people experience, but that it is sporadic then I'll look for any future instances and report in detail.
FYI, it was affecting both an iOS device and an Android device; next time I'll check on my lovely Surface Pro - a proper computer - and see, as well as confirm that I'm not experiencing network latency or other issues outside the control of WOTC. If necessary I'll run a tracert.

I personally haven't noticed any slow load times - roughly what time and timezone were you experiencing this?

I used this last night for a fun quick one-shot. I had no problems looking up the information for players or checking on spells. Load times were fine.

hi.
it was around 8pm BST, but that's from memory rather than being an exact time 😐

I'll report back.
Thanks for the information you had shared. It's this kind of stuff we need to give the staff so they can make note of it.
