We at Curse, are apart of Twitch. All our sites going forward are using Twitch logins, as we start letting people merge their curse accounts into twitch
But Twitch is owned by Amazon. Why not use (or at least allow) Amazon account login rather than Twitch?
Like many others, I created an account just for this and will likely never use Twitch for anything else. It annoyed me to have to create a third-party account that really has nothing to do with the site I was logging into (Twitch is about streaming while D&DB is about tabletop RPGs - at least Amazon sells D&D books).
It would be awesome if we could just use our Curse account or Amazon account to login in the future, rather than Twitch. Seems a bit off for a D&D thing.
I have a Twitch account, and have nothing against Twitch, but even then as soon as it asked me I was like... wait what, why Twitch.. and only Twitch? I would expect Google or other major accounts to be included at some point or a standalone D&D:B account.
Also, I have had quite a few friends that don't like having these huge interlinked accounts, they're quite private individuals and like having things separated.
Though the beta has just started I'll give it time to progress. I personally don't use twitch, and I have a twitch, but had to make a fresh one just for here.
Wait, why didn't you just use your existing Twitch account? My existing account worked fine.
Curse accounts will move over to Twitch as well. They are trying to make Twitch/Curse more of a gaming portal now.

I agree. Twitch, while convenient for the company, is rather cumbersome for average players. This is especially the case for those who play D&D and have 0 interest in Twitch or video gaming. It almost feels fortunate that I happen to have a Twitch account. Registering with more ubiquitous logins like Facebook, email, or Google+ accounts would help make D&D Beyond more appealing to the open market.
D&D Beyond is being developed by Curse. Curse is owned by Twitch. Twitch is owned by Amazon.
The downside is, I now have a Twitch account, a Curse account, and an Amazon account...can't these people get together? lol
Well those could have all been condensed into one account no?
I don't use curse so I don't know if it's Twitch login now, but it will be so you can just abandon your old account or perhaps connect them with a feature already implemented.
Amazon can be connected to twitch this I know for certain but I believe Twitch is the key piece to connect with as that's how they are moving forward.
Since you work for them please let the powers that be know that most including myself do not use twitch and would rather use a native login or something more prominent such as amazon login especially for those of us that have prime accounts.
I am not sure about this twitch login as this is the first time I am hearing about it but have had a curse account for years. It seems like you have already lost a new user as I will not verify my account.
I have been reading all of the post, it seems to me a lot of people don't like using twitch to log in, (only took half a minute to create a log in for something I had never heard of), but I think they are forgetting that this is Beta testing, and the creators are keeping things in house at this point to keep the focus on the product testing instead of efforts to tie to other services login systems for verification.

Curse does allow you to link your curse account with your twitch account now and you pick which account name you want from that point on
While I understand why as a business that makes sense, and I think an easy work around is very simple: when people sign-up and when people login, just have them enter their email. They can have a username and a twitch account, but when they login, just have it say "email" instead of "username." Otherwise everything gets too cluttered. I don't like my separate accounts for PokemonGo, roll20, reddit, Mojang, Steam, Origin, GoG, hell even ESPN March Madness brackets. Personally, I'm fine with it being a twitch account, but I think that as a consumer it is easier to remember the email I use for everything instead of the username I use for one forum.
Another issue with Twitch login is that, if you have third-party cookies disabled (like I do), it behaves less nicely than Amazon, Twitter, or (I think) Google logins.
I have to agree. This is the first day of Beta, and the most viewed and commented on thread by far is "why I have to make an account?" It baffles me. I agree that it needs a comment. I'm sure the admins have already noted this as a challenge from the group. I would think we don't need to harp on it more and can move on to actually using the product and giving our feedback.
Curse/Twitch/Amazon is who WOTC picked as their partner. Now we get to see what they deliver. Let's not get bogged down in how we get to access the content on day one, shall we?

Like many here I find the twitch login odd I have family who plays dn but don't watch twitch. I hope there be more options outside of beta.

Adding my voice to more login options.

I reject your reality and substitute it with my own!

Hey, it does not matter. They want to use their in house client. Maybe they have plans for it.

I would prefer it to be a stand alone login.. But I get it
