Throwing in my 2 cents that I don't want to join Twitch just to use this Beta. Would hope that the real product isn't tied to other accounts/services when it goes live.
The only gripe that I can see is that folks who DO use their Twitch Accounts for other ventures, may not want to associate them with their DnD gaming for any number of reasons. That said, I have like 4 Twitch usernames under one email, I think it's reasonably easy to set up and keep separate.
I'm fine with having to create a throw-away Twitch account if Curse really wants a unified login system. Directly linking this to my Amazon account would be a deal-breaker for me, though. Shared logins represent too big a security issues, and access to my Amazon account and potentially ordering/payment services, would be unacceptable.
If a Twitch account is required to use these character builder tools when the beta goes live, my group will never use it. Period.
Why has DnD for the past five years been taking one step forward and two steps back for every digital tool it releases? I hope this isn't yet another disaster in a long string of DnD digital disasters.

So. You'd be okay making a D&D:B account, but not a Twitch Account that accesses D&D:B ?!
THEY AREN'T GOING TO MAKE YOU STREAM YOUR GAMES!
I still don't get why this is a thing, but I'm still laughing!
Twitch account is the single sign-on account. Twitch and D&D Beyond are products of same group. Create an account for D&D Beyond or Twitch will place you data at same place. Use Facebook is a good option. You can sign in on Twitch using your Facebook account.
I just wanna ask if these people wanna also a different account to use GMail, Youtube, Google Music, Google Calendar...
Maybe if Amazon unify the brands and call everything Curse [product] or Twitch [product] make people more comfortable with single sign-on idea.
Why an account period? That's what we wanted. Still laughing?
Lot's of reasons. Eventually it will be a payed service, so an account becomes a necessity. It makes sense to have accounts for the beta so they can track what is getting used and what isn't. Most importantly, so you can save your shit. Hopefully the SRD will be available here WITHOUT signing on when it goes live.
Umm why? I've got some apps that do everything this site does that doesn't require me to log in to anything. Is it really that crazy to have such an expectation of D&D Beyond? I'm not steaming hot about it but to say it isn't going to be a road block for some players seems ignorant. Can you try and be a grown up and actually talk your feelings through please?
lol if it is in fact going to be a paid service then I'm sad to say I'm out once beta is complete. I'd be cool with a one time payment within reason but subscription? nah not worth it.
My group and I have been playing online with VTT's and other services for more than 5 years. I can tell you %100 we will not use this if we have to log into twitch.
Just adding another 2 cents worth of opinion to this topic. I just happen to have a Twitch account but would have preferred to have been able to create a separate login for DnDB. With all the problems of internet security, dumping many accounts into a single login is compromising. Even if the parent company is the same (Amazon in this case), they can set it up to use different logins. Twitch and Amazon are separate. If one gets compromised, hopefully the other would not.
Don't know if it's been stated, but because Twitch is owned by Amazon, you get a Twitch Prime account with Amazon Prime. I really think D&DB is more for those that are newer to D&D and are tech savvy. I'm really looking forward to this to help me DM.

I did not have any problems logging in
That being said, I have many players in my grope that would prefer not to have twitch accounts.

I stopped using my Twitch account after the password reset. I had to create a new account to access the beta. I would have preferred a separate login.
I agree

Can you explain in further detail why this is such a deal breaker? I'm just not following the real issue here.

And every other "But why Twitch?" thread that pops up henceforth.
⬐ If you thought I added value to the conversation, please let me know!

It makes way more sense to use an Amazon login then a Twitch login. With an Amazon login they could tie in DLC or other in-UI purchasing options.

Could be worse.
They could force you to sign up for Neverwinter Online and use that account.
